The Cypress Coffee Company was founded in 1922 by Max Levy and Arthur Weisbrot. Levy worked as a coffee farmer in the area, while Weisbrot became a grocery store owner. In 1922, Levy and Weisbrot opened a small shop on Cypress Avenue in the heart of Cypress. The first coffee beans were roasted there, and the company soon began to specialize in its own blend of Arabica coffee beans from Colombia. Cypress Coffee Company roasts its own beans fresh daily and offers several unique flavors such as chocolate milk with raspberry puree, caramel corn with cinnamon sugar, iced tea with lemon Verbena infusion, and peppermint extract. Cypress, California is a city located in the Central Valley of California. The population was 71,831 as of the 2010 census. Cypress is known for its palm trees andBuccaneer-style architecture. The first Europeans to visit what is now Cypress were ranch hands who discovered an area that would later become Cypress in 1853. The land was purchased by John Sutter, who named it after his friend and neighbor, Sir George Burnett Cypress. In 1864, General Tubman visited the area and decided to build a railroad through it which became known as the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1886, James Irvine built a mill on the Neches River east of town which still stands today. In 1895, Pacific Gas & Electric Company constructed a transmission line from downtown Los Angeles to Needles and then north to Corona; this line is now part of Southern California Edison's electric grid. The city was incorporated on December 14th, 1912 by Mayor Arthur Latham with a population of 3 residents. On January 1st, 1916 William Fenton took office as Mayor and served until he resigned on February 5th due to health concerns caused by pneumonia contracted while serving in World War I; he was succeeded by Hilda Jenson Heald who served until she resigned in 1933 due to ill health; she was succeeded by Clarence Aiken who served until he resigned on May 20th due to poor health resulting from an automobile accident; his successor was Harry Condon who served until he resigned on November 15th due to illness; upon his resignation Harry Condon bequeathed all assets east of Main Street (the current limits of the city) including most of his home property west of Main Street (now within City Limits). On January 1st, 1941 Mayor Fenton announced that alligator hunting would be allowed for residents only starting April 1st because portions of County Road 8 had become flooding places after rains earlier that year. This decision led to much ridicule from many people in town but eventually lead to some successful hunts over time such as when three gators were killed near San Pedro Creek on October 27th 1949 by Jimmie Beaumont with one shot from Mrs rifle during an outing at Redrock Mesa State Park.; these hunts helped increase tourism around town which began experiencing rapid growth thanks largely to advertising done by Mrs company throughout most of World War II
