Airforce gift history in Daly City, California began with the creation of the United States Air Force on July 1, 1947. The USAF was founded to provide air support for American troops during World War II. From its inception, the USAF operated out of an airbase located in San Francisco. The San Francisco Bay Area was a major center for aircraft production and testing during World War II. The main base at Moffett Field – home of Boeing and other aerospace companies – played a critical role in the development of jet technology. In 1951, the USAAF activated Base Vallejo on Contra Costa County’s eastern coast to host jets and missiles being developed by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation under Project Jupiter. During the Cold War, Air Force installations were established all over the world. One such installation was RAF Bentwaters in England which housed NATO’sMQ-1 Predator drones used for surveillance and reconnaissance missions over enemy territory. After years of service, RAF Bentwaters was closed down in 2006 and its assets were sold off to Brazilian defense company Embraer who transformed it into a military airport known as “Brasília International Airport (BIA)” today). A similar arrangement occurred with USAF Thule AFB on Greenland where CF-18 Hornets from Elmendorf AFB flew missions against targets in Russia during Operation Noble Eagle - an operation that ended with Russian airspace being claimed by both North America Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and Europe's Armed Forces Cooperation Organization Airbus Group F-16 Fighting Falcons operating from Elmendorf AFB near Anchorage Alaska). It is not often that air forces receive gifts, but when they do it is always a special moment. The Gift of Air Force honors the men and women who have served in the United States Air Force, as well as our allies around the world. This gift gives individuals and families a unique insight into what we value most in life. Each year, the USAF celebrates its members with an air force gift exchange that allows guests to enjoy unique memorabilia, like uniforms and medals. The USAF Gift of Air Force initiative began in 2003 as part of AFGift campaign to encourage family fun for all ages. The Air Force has a long and proud history in Daly City. The first unit to be stationed here was the 2nd Bombardment Wing, which arrived in 1948. The wing was redesignated the 1st Bombardment Wing in 1951, and then the 3rd Bombardment Wing in 1957. In 1969, the wing was again redesignated as the 9th Bombardment Wing and had its first operational mission when it flew bombs over Cambodia during the Vietnam War. In 1992, the 9thBomb is reassigned from air force to civilian control as part of Operation Desert Storm. It becomes known as “The Thunderbolts” and flies planes into Iraq for combat operations against Saddam Hussein's regime. From 1993-1998, The Thunderbolts also fly planes into Yugoslavia for support operations after their country became embroiled in a civil war. Today, The Air Force's 7th Bombardment Squadron is stationed here with its KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft providing refueling support for coalition forces fighting ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Additionally, two F-16 Fighting Falcons are currently on active duty with this squadron providing air defense cover for coalition ground troops while they battle ISIS extremists on multiple fronts throughout North America
Daly City is a city in San Mateo County, California. The population was 64,853 as of the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Silicon Valley and one of the most populous cities in Northern California. Daly City developed on an agricultural site that was first settled by Native Americans in 1835. The city's namesake, Daniel Daly, donated land to build what would become the first shopping center in Silicon Valley. In 1966, Daly City became the location of Stanford University's new campus after being chosen by a competitive vote among local cities. The university has since moved out and many of its buildings have been replaced by office towers and other commercial properties. In recent years, Daly City has become known for its startup culture and innovative technology businesses.

Daly City, California was founded in 1887 by Irish immigrants. The city entered into its current form when it was incorporated as a city on November 15, 1906. It is located in San Francisco County and has a population of over 220,000 people. The history of Daly City is intertwined with that of the San Francisco Bay Area and the United States as a whole. The area now known as Daly City was originally inhabited by the Ohlone Native tribe. In 1847, Spain acquired land at Point Arena from the Ohlones in what would become Daly City. The town began to grow rapidly during the 1850s due to the presence of Mission San Francisco de Asís and other missions in local territory. By 1861, there were over 1,500 residents in Daly City. In 1887, Dublin-born James Fenton purchased land northeast of downtown for $10 per acre and began construction on his new town hall/ courthouse complex which became known as "Fenton’s Hill". Fenton's original intent was to provide housing for himself and his workers who built the former mission buildings and other infrastructure within his new town site. However, because most of Daly City's growth came after incorporation as an municipio (city), little development took place until after World War II when much heavy military traffic moved through the area including an influx of soldiers barracks and their families. 2 0 3
Daly City was founded in 1887 by Irish immigrants, James Daly and his wife Ellen. The first store opened on Market Street. In 1889, the Daly family moved to 4th Avenue and Page Street. A year later, they opened the first post office in Daly City. In 1893, James Daly married actress Sarah Bernhardt. The couple started a theater company that performed for local audiences. They also formed a cooperative bank which became one of the largest banks in California. In 1907, the Daltons bought land from Michael O’Connell on College Avenue near Mission Boulevard and built a home called "The Park." They served as president of the city's Board of Supervisors from 1915 to 1921. The Daltons also developed what is now known as Jack London Square. In 1932, John Fenton purchased some of the property where Jack London Square now stands and moved his business headquarters to Daly City from Oakland Heights, New York City. Fenton was an early investor in Northern California's oil industry and played an important role in developing the community's economy during World War II when he sponsored military housing projects throughout Los Angeles County
