The Marine Corps has been deployed in many different places throughout its history. In Daly City, California, the Marines have been stationed at bases for over 50 years. Here are some of the most famous gifts that the Marines have given out over the years: 1) The first Marine unit to deploy to Iraq was sent in 1990 as part of Operation Desert Storm. They brought back a large supply of supplies and equipment for Iraqi forces. 2) After 9/11, the Marines began Deploying Gifts For Troops (DFT). DFT is an initiative where marines send items such as clothing, tools, or food to military families who have lost loved ones in Afghanistan or Iraq. 3) In 2004, a new gift tradition started which is called “Gift From A Lifetime”. This tradition allows marines to give something unique and special each year to someone they know would appreciate it. Daly City is a city in San Francisco County, California. The population was 25,671 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city by population in San Francisco after San Francisco and Oakland. Daly City borders the neighborhoods of North Beach, Chinatown, and Telegraph Hill to the north, South Beach to the south, and Midtown to the east. The city is named for Captain John Daly who explored what is now San Francisco Bay in 1795. The first Europeans to visit what is now Daly City were Spanish Missionaries led by Father Junípero Serra in 1821. They builtMission Dolores on Nob Hill and called it " Nuestra Señora de los Angeles" (Our Lady of Angels). In 1828, Captain John Daly founded a small town near Point Reyes Station on Alameda Creek named "New Albion". He sold his land to James Larkin in 1846 for $3 per acre. A year later Daley sold his part of New Albion to Nicholas Doherty for $6 per acre. In 1860, Don Alfredo Brouwer purchased part of Daley's land from Brouwer and renamed it "Daly City". Daly City was incorporated as a city on January 5, 1899 following passage of legislation creating municipal boundaries within San Francisco County under then-Governor Arthur Golden's Administration. At its incorporation it had an estimated population of 10 people living in six small houses at 4th Street and Union Street near Potrero Hill BART station - granting it a quick growth rate due largely to its location close to major transportation arteries likeomaveranchored trains running through downtownSanFranciscoandtheneedtoworkwiththecityrdespiteitssmallpopulation (). In 1907 Mayor George Keyes designated DalyCity as site for new Municipal Hall which would become one ofSanFrancisco county's most iconic symbols In 1911 voters passed an ordinance establishing parkland stretching along Center Street between Fourth Avenue and University Avenue including portions bordered by Civic Center Boulevard (now Harrison Street) on the west side; Geary Boulevard (now Clayoquot Avenue) on the east side; Russian Hill Road (now Cathedral Road) on the south side; State Route 101 () running concurrently from Russian Hill Road into Foster Park across Masonic Drive towards DowntownSanFrancisco (); while Dumbarton Oaks Estate off Interstate 80 () provided much needed open space nearby , this initial area only included about one-third of present day DalyCity . Accordingto Comprehensive Plan adopted in 1936 (), there are presently over 20 square miles (.72 km2) located within present day DalyCity limits with an estimated population exceeding 300,,000 people residing within its boundaries today made up primarilyof middle class families () employing high tech workers ().
Since the World War II, Marines have been deployed in a variety of different ways. One way Marine Corps marines have been deployed is through gift history. Gifts given to Marines by friends and family are some of the earliest memories that many Marines keep. They may also remember gifts that were received during deployments as well. One example of Marine gift history is the present given to Sgt. Danbury, Connecticut during Operation Neptune's Spear in 1991. The sergeant was serving with Company I, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines when they were attacked by Taliban forces in Afghanistan on October 14th 1991. The sergeant was able to fight back and kill 10 of the terrorists before being captured by them. He was then presented with a Zippo lighter as a gift from his unit mates and fellow Marines in order to show their support for him while he was held captive. Another example is the present given to Master Sergeant John Boyd III after he infiltrated Al-Qaeda forces inside Iraq on November 3rd 2004. Master Sergeant Boyd had been serving with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines at Camp Victory when his unit became involved in an ambush against al-Qaeda forces near Baghdad on October 28th2004. He fought off several attackers before being captured by al-Qaeda forces and held as hostage for six days before being released safe into Iraqi custody on November 3rd 2004. He was presented with a Colt P9 pistol as a gift from his battalion mates and other members of 2nd Battalion 5th Marines prior to his release

Daly City was founded on September 15, 1887, by George Daly and his wife Emma. The city's first post office opened in 1892. In 1907, the city was renamed after Samuel Morse Daly, one of its original developers. Daly City experienced a number of surges in population during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its strategic location as an eastern terminus for California's gold rush and its convenient access to railroads. At its peak, the city had a population of over 100,000 people. However, between 1910 and 1920 Daly City's population decreased by 50%. This decline can be partially attributed to the Panic of 1907 which caused a wave of bankruptcies in eastern California. Additionally, many residents relocated to other parts of San Francisco during this time period. During World War II, Daly City attracted many servicemen from Northern California who were needed in the war effort. The war also led to an increase in housing prices; however, this did not result in a significant increase inresidential occupancy rates which would have helped spur economic development postwar. In 1957 Mayor William Steuart challenged Supervisor Norman Yee for re-election and won with 54% of the vote against Yee's 46%. In recent yearshas seen growth thanks to new businesses such as Google Fiber and Facebook’s HQ2 project which is set to bring 1 million jobs directly to downtown Daly City by 2026 There are several main streets running through town center: 2nd Street South (the downtown core), 3rd Street South (northwest side), Vine Street North/South (east side), Market Street West (southwest side)
