It has been over sixty years since the Dana Point Marine Corps Base first welcomed soldiers into its ranks. Today, the base boasts a diverse and impressive military history that goes back to World War I. The Marines have played an important role in many American wars, both during and after the conflict. The base continues to serve as a landing zone for Marines deployment in support of U.S. military operations all around the world. The Marine Corps First Battalion (1st battalion) is responsible for guarding Military Beach 1 on Dana Point Boulevard, which is also home to Marine Barracks #1 and #2 dating back to 1915. The couple has operated the shop ever since. In recent years, however, they have faced increasing competition from larger businesses along the coast that have made moves to outdo them economically and attract tourists alike. Despite these challenges, Daly Point remains an important community for locals and visitors alike due to its rich history and unique culture
