Another important business venture for Smallbatch Coffee Incorporated (SBWI) occurred in 2003 when they founded their own roastery/brewery named Dear Old Java Days Roasters & Cafe on Southeast 4th Street just east of I-5 freeway junction in downtown Davis - home town for SBWI's founder Dick Cooksey (the original 'Joe' man behind all those cups). One can visit our cafe today or catch Dick's occasional streaming live video show at www2pm PDT every day during December through March!...Dick has been passionate about quality roasting/brewing all his life long; we've simply followed his lead! We roast English Breakfast blend beans direct from our old friend Gouda Factory located near Milwaukee WI - some might say America's most beautiful city!). Davis was founded in 1847 by Captain George Moore and his wife, Martha. It became the capital of California in 1850 after the state's admission into the United States. The city is named for General John A. Davis, who served as a military commander during the Mexican-American War and as governor of California from 1853 to 1855.
