The Delano Coast Guard Auxiliary is one of the oldest volunteer organizations in California. In 1892, the first coast guard station was established at Point Conception. The Auxiliary was formed in response to the need for a volunteer organization to help protect the coastline from piracy and other dangerous activities. The Auxiliary continued to grow throughout the years and by 1934, it had its own station at Delano. Today, the Auxiliary helps protect our coastline through operations such as patrols, public education, and research into smuggling techniques. The Delano Coast Guard Station was established in 1907. It is the first coast guard station in Kern County. The current station is located on Point Arena Boulevard, just south of the Delano town center.
Delano is a small town located in Contra Costa County, California. It is home to the Delano Mills shopping center and the Delano Unified School District. The population of Delano was 30,287 as of 2010. The town was founded by ranchers in 1876. The first post office was established in 1877. The name "Delano" comes from the Spanish word "delantera," meaning 'the edge of the world.' In 1907, the community changed its name to "Albany." In 1915, Albany became part of Contra Costa County and it has been an unincorporated community since then. The first store in Delano opened in 1924 at Second and King Streets. In 1936, Albany's only doctor moved to Alameda after being denied certification by Contra Costa County because he did not have a license to practice medicine in that state. In 1945, when Contra Costa County merged with Berkeley County, Delano became part of Berkeley Township within Berkeley County. In 1959, it became an unincorporated community again when it seceded from Berkeley Township and joined what is now called Albany Township within Contra Costa County proper. On July 1, 1960, Albany Township annexed into Delanco; however Albany never received its own post office until 1997 when it opened at Third Street and Atherton Avenue inside the new library complex on Main Street./snip/ After years of growth (and several annexations), which included two high school districts (Albany-Delanco Joint High School & Pleasanton-Albany Jr./Sr.) as well as numerous businesses including a tire shop (now closed), Alameda City Schools took over responsibility for all public education services for both Delaware Valley Elementary School District #1 (serving Macy) and AlbANY Public Schools serving both sets of students on October 1st 2003 - ending more than fifty years of dual instruction between Dover Heights Elementary School District #2 & Albion Middle/High SchoolDistricts#1 & 2.] In 2006-2007 there was much talk about annexing neighboring towns such as Walnut Creek or Clayton but no annexation happened due to lack of support from residents

Delano is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 5,421 at the 2010 census. It took its name from John Delano, a settler who arrived in 1849. In 1881, Delano became part of Bakersfield when that city was founded by William Epps and others from Stockton. The first people to live in what is now Delano were the Tongva Indians. They came to the area about 8500 years ago to hunt game and collect plants and seeds for their own food supply. A mission station was established near where present-day Delano sits in 1856 by Father José de Jesús Arce. After Mexican Independence was granted on November 14, 1912 (by Governor Manuel Quezon), parts of Kern County lay within Mexico until 1913 when they were annexed into the United States as part of Riverside County. In 1886, John Capps opened a bakery on Seventh Street in what is now downtown Delano. He started out making pies and pastries but soon added other items such as bread doughnuts and Danish pastries. By 1893, his bakery had become one of the largest in California with 30 locations across nine counties including Bakersfield and Kern City; he also exported his goods to other states including Nevada and Arizona. In 1907 Capps sold his business to Saugus Gardner which continued operations until 1978 before being bought by Jell-O Enterprises which continues operations today as Jell-O USA Incorporated with headquarters located in Wilmington Delaware). According to the 2000 census, there are 4 elementary schools (grades PreK through 4) with an enrollment of 624 students; 2 middle schools (grades 5 through 8) with an enrollment of 384Students; 3 high Schools (grades 9 through 12) with an enrollment of 1125 students; and 1 postsecondary institution: The community college which has a student body of 505 students consisting predominantly of Californians who have moved here after completing associates degrees or certificates at local universities or colleges since 1998 In addition there are numerous businesses located throughout the town limits such as grocery stores/markets/ notions stores/grocery delivery services etc., although many have closed over time due primarily to changes in trends within their industry or competition from newer entities that have come online or downsized their businesses
The Delano area began as a small farming town in the early 20th century. It rapidly grew, becoming one of the most important agricultural and ranching towns in California. The population of Delano more than tripled during the years from 1910 to 1920, reaching over 5,000 people. The town's growth was due in part to its location on the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Valley, which offered farmers great access to water resources and market opportunities. In addition, many of the early businesses in Delano were founded by ranchers and farmers who came to the area for grazing land or irrigation purposes. Over time, however, business development shifted from agriculture to manufacturing and other services asDelano emerged as a major industrial center in California. By World War II, it had become one of the largest cities in California with a population of over 25,000 people.
