In 1891, a Dutchman named Hendrik Jan van den Bergh started roasting coffee in the small town of Delano, California. Since then, coffee beans from this area have been a mainstay in the world's coffee industry. In 2013, Van den Bergh was inducted into the American Coffee Association's Hall of Fame. The first espresso machine was built and used by Hendrik Jan van den Bergh in 1891. The first commercial espresso machines were made by Italian immigrants who moved to Delano in the early 1800s. In 1903, Italian immigrant Angelo Morrone began making espresso machines for Delano residents and sold them door-to-door. By 1915, Angelo Morrone had set up his own business producing and selling espresso machines throughout California. The first cup of Joe was brewed atAngelo Morrone's home on October 8th, 1915 by Pietro Donato using an old French pressurized pot with a hand crank pump that produced 3–4 cups of Java per hour (or about 160–240 milliliters or 8–12 ounces). This is also considered to be the birthdate of modern café culture in America as people would flock to Angelo Morrone's cafes to enjoy their favorite European-style coffees while locals gathered around him for conversation and laughter. After years of experimentation and development at various companies including Donato Bros., Krups' Coffee Corporation opened its doors on May 25th 1927 with their new Three Springs Roastery & Cafeteria serving delicious drip coffee under one roof – later becoming known as Starbucks which opened its doors on April 17th 1994

In 1875, Nicholas Roerich opened the first coffee house in Delano. In 1928, Harry J. Deutsch became the first wholesale grocer in town and began to sell coffee from his store. In 1951, Donnelle & Sons Coffee opened their doors to serve customers from all over the Bay Area. The company continued to operate until it was sold to Peet's Coffee in 1984.
Delano is a small town located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. The population was 8,452 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Fresno-Madera-San Joaquin county area. The first Europeans to visit Delano were Juan Bautista de Anza and his party on January 24, 1769. They named it Partida del Diablo ( Devil's Gap) because of the many Devils' Den mountains in that vicinity. In 1881, gold was discovered in nearby Tulare County and by 1886, Delano had become an important mining center with its own post office and newspaper. The town prospered until the early 1960s when large amounts of water usage led to problems with dust particles created by open fires in the desert night sky which grounded all but a few helicopters used for firefighting operations; these helicopters are still flying over Delano today as part of Operation Sierra Madre! In consistency with much of California during this time period, a great deal of white settlement occurred without any attempt at racial integration; instead single-sex housing developments were established where people could purchase land or leased it from Indians who lived there under treaties dating back to 1848. As more Mexicans came into America through Immigration Act measures enacted between 1924 and "the Johnson years" (1946 - 1964), they too began moving into what would become known as " Mexican enclaves." This process accelerated following World War II when American officials decided that aliens not only constituted a security threat but also posed economic opportunities since they could not be assimilated into American society given their low levels of education and literacy rates. The original settlers who arrived in Delano were mainly Anglo Californians who founded outposts near present day Yosemite National Park before coming down to central valley country about 1840 BC looking for new grazing areas for their horses and cattle: evidence has been found at several sites along Hwy 99W including one now occupied by agriculture that suggests people traveled considerable distances on horseback during those days reaching as far north as Shasta Lake around 30 miles SW from modern day El Sobrante where today's Highway 99E crosses over Black Butte Creek just south of Mather AFB then continued eastward past Mount Shasta going thru most parts now inhabited by Redding CA then continuing due WSW past Marysville lots now generally uninhabited then turning NWO/NNE towards present day Delano placer field which formed probably after OS Rancho Eastspring creek drained some older Owens River valley prior to Quahog Creek entering Sonora Hills range

In 1796, an Italian named Giovanni Antonio Fracastoro imported some of the best coffee beans from Africa and began making a unique drink called corto al diavolo which means “flat-headed man’s wine”. This drink caught on quickly and soon became popular all over Europe. By 1812, coffee had spread to America where it first started being traded commercially. After several years, Dutch traders arrived in America and purchased a lot of these beans from Fracastoro. They began roasting them at their own plantations in Java (now Indonesia). From here, the coffee continued to be traded throughout Asia Minor, India, Arabia and eventually North America where it finally reached our shores in 1795.

It was named for their father, Daniel Delano, who had come from England to farm in the area. The first store in Delano opened its doors on November 1, 1872. According to the 2010 census, the population of Delano was 2,898. The highlight of this small town's history are its three major events: the Weekend Wagon Races which took place each year at Stockton Raceway; the great depression (1937-1945) which caused widespreadeconomic damage to the town; and finally, after World War II when it became known as "the breadbasket of California" because so much agricultural production took place here. In addition to its rich agricultural history, other significant aspects of early life include memories of pioneer men such as John Wesley Powell and Hiram Sutter who mined gold in nearby Yosemite National Park during that time as well as local civic leaders like Mayor Hayward Burritt who championed public works projects such as a water system and community college. Today, many residents still keep close ties with these historic moments through annual events like Pioneer Day or Fourth Of July fireworks displays.
