Delano is a small town in the Central California region of the United States. The population was 5,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Delano-Salinas, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first coffee plants were started in 1869 by Carlos Romero and his brother Fernando Romero. In 1892, Emilio Aguirre founded Aguirre Coffee Company in Delano, becoming its first president. The company continued to grow and make coffee until it merged with Peet's Coffee in 1984. In addition to coffee, Delano also has a large agricultural industry that produces hay, apples, oranges, tomatoes, potatoes and other vegetables.

In 1881, William Mulholland developed an oil well near present day Delano which led to increased activity in the town;Delano had been known only for its agricultural produce until this time. In 1912 it also saw construction of what would become world-renowned Giants Stadium (now home to both NFL teams), which played host to football games between local high school teams until 1978 when they were replaced by more professional leagues due to concerns over stadium safety (later Studies revealed that no physical harm ever occurred during these games). The post office closed down effective January 15th 1959 due to budget cuts set into motion by then Governor Ronald Reagan that impacted all cities statewide including Delano; this decisionAmidst public outcry lead some residents form occupying City Hall until new management could be put into place On October 10th 1960 Mayor Don Whitney opened up city hall after dayslong occupation and offered city employees their full paychecks backdated to September 9th 1960 instead of February 1st 1961 as proposed by Reagan’s administration;this event helped improve relations among community members and spurred economic redevelopment around town the original downtown business district remains today anchored around Main Street with several fine restaurants and shops along with 3 small movie theaters

Prior to incorporation as an incorporated city in 1906, Delano was made up of several scattered settlements including Fry Creek Valley (now part of Walnut Creek), Indian Wells Creek (now part of MAPFRE Stadium), Spanish Flat Rancho Nuevo Novena de las Floresita del Río Morelos (now part of Poway) and other areas near present-day Interstate 5 (I-5) between Sacramento and San Bernardino counties. In 1906 Delano City Council passed an ordinance granting voting rights to women which prompted Mayor Charles Wickersham to remark "It's not all bad here - let's get some more women onto our council!" However no female members were ever elected to City Council until 1984 when Jean Quan won election after running as an independent candidate against incumbent Barbara Jordan with over 60% majorities among women voters! In 1989 then Mayor Jerry Sanders appointed Jane Jacobs to chairwoman’s office within City Hall setting off a citywide campaign led by Jacobs that eventually resulted in passage of Proposition 209 which banned discrimination against gay men/women through public accommodations laws statewide! The population growth associated with suburbanization during the late 20th century led to increased housing prices throughout Greater Los Angeles County; however little did residents know that this growth would soon impact northern Californians as well with increasing joblessness rates due to automation being introduced into many manufacturing jobs across North America resulting in mass layoffs throughout Southern California resulting in low birthrates throughout those regions consistent with trends seen throughout much of continental America during this time period – large waves or “baby boomer” retirements paralleling overall social changes taking place domestically across much Western civilization culminating in massive demographic declines beginning around 1970 following which these regions experienced rapid economic expansion characterized by elevated levels unemployment rates unparalleled anywhere else within American society during this era!
