The Delano Navy Yard was first established in 1851 as the San Francisco Naval Shipyard. The yard was among the earliest naval shipyards in the United States, and it became one of America's most important sea-defense establishments. The yard built USS Constitution (1813), USS Maine (1819), USS Monitor (1861), USS Perry ( 1872), USS Buchanan (1912), and numerous other warships over the years. It also manufactured civilian merchant ships, including the first container ship, SS President Roosevelt. In 1951, the navy closed the San Francisco Naval Shipyard and all its activities were transferred to NAS Whidbey Island.
Delano is a small town in the Central Valley of California, United States. The population was 9,041 at the 2010 census. It is part of Fresno County. The community of Delano was founded in 1879 by a group of Mormon farmers who had fled Utah during the Black Hawk War. The name "Delano" comes from Spanish meaning "a place where there are palms." In 1901, the first post office opened in Delano and it served as an important link between Fresno and isolated communities to the east, such as Hetch Hetchy and Yuba City. In 1916, some residents began to build a cotton gin on their own land, which became known as Delano Planation No. 1. This cotton gin was one of many operated by American Southern Pacific Railroad Company (as well as other railroads) in the area during World War I because they needed to produce crops for war munitions production; these operations were later described as "the dirtiest and most dangerous jobs in America." However, despite its high-production values, Delano Planation No. 1 was unsuccessful due to low yields and competition from nearby towns that had larger cotton gin capacities or better transportation links. The cotton industry gradually transitioned from a rural reliance towards mechanized production beginning around 1945 – this change led to increased competition among local businesses for access to cheap labor during postwar periods throughout California's agricultural heartland; ultimately causing prices for staple goods like eggs and gasolineto skyrocket while employment plummeted across much of the state. With no major employer left standing after World War II ended, people increasingly turned to agriculture for sustenance instead; however, even with advances in precision machinery over the years, large farms still play an important role in economic development today through their acreage size and exports

Delano is a city located in San Joaquin County, California. The population was 43,075 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in San Joaquin County after Modesto and the largest city west of Sacramento. The name "Delano" was first given to it by Spanish colonists in 1821 when they named it Rancho Las Haciendas del Nuevo Socorro for José María Delano, one of the original settlers of California. The first permanent settlement in what is now Delano was made on November 17, 1836 by Captain John Sutter and his men as part of their march from Monterey to Sutters Fort on the Sacramento River. They built a small cabin called "Santiago" on a hill above present-day downtown Delano. By 1840, about fifty families had moved into what is now Delano from various parts of northern California with the intent of finding new land to farm and ranch near water sources such as Sutters Lake and Stockton Bay. In 1846, following Mexican independence from Spain, Mexico ceded all but Alta California to America under Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which divided California into two parts - Northern Californias (Alta) went to America and Southern Californias (Chihuahua) went to Mexico In 1850, following popular vote at an election held pursuant to US statehood that resulted in Abigail Adams being elected president because nearly everyone living east of Colorado voted against her candidacy due to fears she would become a puppet ruler controlled by eastern interests like East India Company traders who were influential enough within her husband's cabinet that he allowed herTo be re-elected even though no evidence exists she ever interfered with Ulysses S. Grant's presidency whatsoever despite repeatedly claiming she did so throughout their entire tenure together). At this time there were only 7 Pueblos remaining within Mexican territory north of Bakersfield including San Francisco while Laguna Niguel Pueblo existing south of Bakersfield had been abandoned by its original people who fled during Tepa era (1821-1825), shortly before Mexican rule began expanding inland beyond what is now Los Angeles County A few weeks after becoming president on March 4th 1865 Abraham Lincoln issued Executive Order 9995 calling for all American citizens over 21 years old living east or south of 50° 30' longitude latitude “to pack up their effects and leave this country for six months” stating “I do not want any more Mormons coming into our midst” eventually leading many Mormon pioneers including James E Jesup who founded Hopland CA along side Brigham Young whose wagon train arrived at El Sobrante around September 1st 1847 also followed by others including Lorenzo Snow who founded Pleasanton CA adjacent Big Sur just down the coast from today's Carlsbad Caverns National Park
