These days, desert climates are perfect for CCTU flying becauseofthe lackof weather clouds or turbulence which can disrupt operations; instead there is plenty of NWS wind shear data that can be plotted against time/day/location to determine weather conditions conducive to flying operations by F-15 Eagle jets or other types of airplanes.# Today's USAF desert airfield heritage begins with Project RUSH which began in 1967 when two Phoenix Valley University professors developed a plan to improve air traffic control in Imperial County by using Dakotas pushed by large trucks filled with gravel before takeoff so that controllers could see where people were going before they got too close.# After years of development and testing involving many different types of planes including helicopters and even drones – Project MONDAY was born!
