The United States Army has been present in Diamond Bar, California since 1849. The first American military forces to arrive in the area were two companies of volunteers under General Phillip Sheridan on October 15, 1849. The first realmilitary presence in the area came with the Mexican-American War on April 9,1847 when a detachment led by Commodore John D. Sloat arrived at what is now known as Mission Peak. With the arrival of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and other new installations such as Fort Yuma and Fort Stanton in 1858,the army grew rapidly within California. By 1861 there were over 10,000 soldiers stationed in California, amounting to about one third of all U S Military personnel stationed abroad at that time. During the Civil War Californians courageously volunteered for service and many died fighting for their country including many from Diamond Bar who fought at Belleau Wood and Manassas Junction before returning home to safety. In 1865 following the end of hostilities most Californians returned home but a few thousand men remained behind to garrison duty along the southern border of Mexico until 1898 when they finally withdrew from Mexican soil entirely. In 1901, President Theodore Roosevelt ordered all Americans living outside of territorial boundaries be evacuated as part of his so-called "All Land Policy." This order called for an massive withdrawal of troops and equipment from western America due to deteriorating public opinion toward war with Spain over disputed San Miguel County territory located east of Tejas Creek (now part of El Paso County). Entering into force on September 16th 1901 more than 12,000 men and women left Diamond Bar for points northward including Stockton (then known as Brownsville), Chico (formerly Rancho Bonito), Sacramento (formerly Alameda), Morro Bay (now Mariposa County) and points eastward through Plumas County until they reached their destination just south of Phoenix Arizona on November 3rd 1901 less than three months after Roosevelt's inauguration! One potential reason why so few people Left during this time period may have been because it was considered unsafe to travel outsideof populated areas with frequent skirmishes between Confederate rebelsand Union militiamen still ongoing throughout much of California! From 1915 until 1978 PANGCO managed all aspects related to diamond mining operations including exploration, development, production and sales within California’s Central Valley region with an emphasis on developing world-class resources such as 1 million carats or more per year from their properties located east of Interstate 5 between Fresno and Bakersfield Counties along I-5 “the highway to hell” according to one local author Diamond Bar became part of what is now known as Northern California when PANGCO transferred its entire shareholding in Pan American Gold Corporation (PANAMIC) to Northern Californian interests in 1978 following auctioning off all remaining assets within San Diego County except for about 2%, which are currently held by two individuals: Haim Saban’s son Jamie Saban and his wife Lisa Kappelman Saban who own about 60% through their daughter Stephanie Kappelman Saban through her father’s company JASO Diamond Corporation). As a result, DiamondBar effectively ceased exist as an incorporated municipality after 1978 although there continues to be considerable legal/administrative activity taking place there (e.g., city hall), although officially no services are provided by either entity apart from occasional zoning updates/amending ordinances; nevertheless, people living there generally consider themselves part thereof DiamondBar experienced significant economic decline during both World Wars due largely to large-scale importation shortages caused by restrictions placed on exports from Japan due principally by Imperial Japanese Army commanders seeking ammunition for their troops fighting on Field Marshal MacArthur's Allied Forces duringWWII In recent years however new investment has led to renewed hope for revitalization efforts with plans announced for development including retail stores housing approximately 150 jobs across several blocks adjacent Toole Ave; hotel - presently under construction with anchor tenant being La Quinta Inn & Suites - measuring 225 rooms (+30 office); industrial park comprising over 100 acres +/- site plan expansion; additional acreage nearby will house 3 gas stations presently operational; finally an expressway connecting town with neighboring cities scheduled completion 2020
