Fenton developed a large refinery in the town and he soon began importing goods from all over the world. One of his first imports was a shipment of ivory from Africa. Dinuba became known as "The Ivory Coast of the Pacific" because of this! Fenton also started importing artifacts. He collected ancient Chinese coins and objects, as well as Spanish treasure. His collection eventually grew to include more than 60 items! In 1927, Fenton donated his entire collection to Dinuba City Council for use as the city's museum. Today, the Museum remains open tothe public and it features a wide variety of exhibits about Dinuba's history and culture.

In 1902, David Fenton built a sawmill and millrace which supplied water for the town; this became known as Fenton's Millrace and remains an important part of Dinuba history today. In 1933, John Dennett developed what would become know as "Dinuba Mines", which are now home to both Goldfinch Mine (owned by Peabody Energy) and Punta Gorda Mine (owned by Rio Tinto). The City of Dinuba annexed portions of Butte County on December 12, 1935 so that it could have easier access to county services such as education, social welfare programs, fire protection and health care while still being within its own municipal boundaries. On July 1st 2000 Mayor Tom Larkin passed a resolution proclaiming July 4th an Official holiday in honor of our nation’s veterans who served during World War II or any other time when great sacrifices were made for their country/community/allies! This resolution also recognized that many families from out-of-state took advantage of our Military Family Services program during those vulnerable months leading up to Veteran’s Day!
