In 1951, the city purchased the old police headquarters and moved it to its current location on Harbor Drive. The Coast Guard Museum has since been housed within this building. Through donations and fundraising efforts, the Coast Guard Museum has been able to acquire many artifacts related to California's coastal defense system during both World War II and subsequent years.
