Mr. Healey was a local rancher who decided to open a men's clothing store because hesaw no other businesses of that type in the area at the time. The first customers were locals who came to buy their favorite cowboy clothes and hats. The Healey family continued to run the store until 1955 when they sold it to William Soper and his wife Gertrude. It wasn't until 1978 when Dixon's first gift-giving event took place when Mrs. Soper donated her entire collection of SIEMENS watches to the town square for use as public displays during special events such as Fourth of July celebrations or city fairs. Since then, Dixon has been home to many different gift giving events which have helped promote local retail sales for both individuals and businesses alike. In 2006, Mrs. Soper donated another entire set of SIEMENS watches to help support the community hall renovation project which is now complete! In 2011, Dixon Community Foundation hosted its third annual "Gift For Men" fundraiser which raised over $5,000 for local charities!
