In 1894, Dixon was a small farming town of about 2,000 residents. In the early 1900s, the first coffee beans were roasted in what is now known as the Farmer's Market in Dixon. At that time, the town was primarily used for cattle and horse grazing. The first coffee shop opened in 1905 and was called The Gourmet Coffee House. It served only coffee. In 1916, Don Lusk founded Los Angeles' first drive-in restaurant and started selling coffee from his truck on Drive-In Boulevard. Lusk's business grew rapidly and he built several other restaurants across Southern California before his death in 1977 at age 91. A few years later, Harry Roemer reopened The Gourmet Coffee House as an espresso bar with local roasts and unique offerings like chocolates made from fruit bats that had been captured during forest fire suppression operations in Ventura County
Dixon, California is a small city in the County of Kern, California. It was founded in 1887 by George Dixon and his wife Anna. The population was 563 at the 2010 census. The first store in Dixon was built on Main Street in 1887 by George Dixon and his wife Anna. In 1912, Dixon incorporated as a town. The population grew to 1,104 in 1915 when it merged with neighboring Postville. In 1922, Dixon became an unincorporated community within the City of Terre Haute after its annexation by that city. Although unincorporated, it had voting rights and held an election for mayor on December 6th, 1922 which resulted in John Smedley being elected mayor over incumbent Harry Fenton. In 1933, Dixon annexed Postville and became a part of that city's school district

Dixon, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 3,569 at the 2010 census. Dixon has been the home of missionaries and settlers since 1821 when Father José Bernardo de las Casas founded Mission San Gabriel Arcángel on land that later became Dixon. The first post office in Dixon was established in 1872. The first store opened in 1875 and the first school was built in 1876. The first telephone line was erected in 1899. Dixon is named after John A. Dixon, an early settler who purchased 640 acres (253 hectares) of Rancho Sotelo from Mexican grantees for $1,000 cash. In 1903, he donated another 222 acres (85 hectares) to the town for use as a public park and cemetery. In 1916, Dixon joined the newly formed Kern County and continued to function as its only municipality until it incorporated as a city on November 5, 1919 under the name of Woodland Hills City Limits Municipal District No. 2 with a population of 434 residents. On July 15, 1984, Dixon merged with neighboring cities of Glassell Park and Placerville to form the largest municipal merger in California history with a combined population of 919 residents!
Dixon was founded in 1858 by James Dixon and his wife, Sarah. The town was named after General John A. Dixon who fought in the Mexican-American War. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Dixon was part of the Battle of Dixon Heights which resulted in a Confederate victory.
