The Navy SEALs are a special forces unit of the United States military. They were first organized in 1941 as the Naval Fighter Squadron VF-4, based at NAS Miramar, California. The squadron was redesignated as VF-5 in 1942 and served as an air force fighter squadron until 1945. The squadron then became a navy SEAL detachment under command of Commanderonics Unit Training Command (CUTCOM) Guantanamo Bay, Cuba from 1951 to 1957. In 1958 CUTCOM was transferred to Kings Bay Naval Station, Georgia and from there it continued to be operated by Commanderonics until its disbanding in 1973. After disbanding the navy SEAL detachment finally disbanded on 1 October 1973 with all their equipment and personnel being mothballed at Kings Bay Naval Station
Dixon is a small town located in Riverside County, California. Dixon's population was 2,951 as of the 2010 census. The word "dixon" is derived from the nearby creek, Dixon Creek. The first permanent European settlement in what is now Dixon occurred on July 20, 1851 when Hernando Pico and five others founded the town of Indian Wells along the banks of Dixon Creek. In 1892, the United States Office of Lands and Surveys designated part of Dixon as Forest Preserve No. 527. At that time it consisted of only a few hundred acres (200 hectares). In recent years, much progress has been made to protect and promote the open space around Dixon Creek which includes an 8-mile (13 km) hiking trail crossing its course. Additionally, several businesses have sprung up to help maintain and market this valuable piece of land: one grocery store and three restaurants serve local farmers' markets during most months; two churches offer services on weekdays; and there are also several historical properties including a Methodist church dating from 1875 that has been preserved as a museum with exhibits about early pioneer life in Dixon

Dixon, California was founded in 1868 by the brothers John and James Dixon. The community quickly grew due to its fertile soil, proximity to other agricultural communities, and access to water resources. In 1916, Dixon became a town and was renamed after Field Marshal Sir Archibald Dixon. Today, Dixon is a small community with a population of around 350 residents. It is located in Kern County, California. The history of Dixon begins with the arrival of the first Europeans to the area in 1868. John Dixon had been born in 1828 in east Tennessee and arrived at San Francisco Bay on July 24th aboard the ship "Alacrity". He soon married Jane Goodspeed and began farming land around his house on what is now Main Street in Dixon. James Dixon followed suit two years later while working as an engineer for The Golden Gate Bridge Company. Upon their return from their trip they discovered that their father-in-law had already built a home on what would become Main Street. In 1916, when Davis Intermediate School opened in nearby Bakersfield, it was one of the few schools open for students living outside of San Francisco proper during World War I. When General Pershing decided that war should be fought across all fronts instead of just along the Western Front, he ordered all American schools reopened under military jurisdiction on September 1st so that children could attend class without fear of being drafted into combat or subjecting themselves to hazardous conditions at home (such as gaslighting). This policy led to increased demand for school supplies within days of its implementation and accordingly increased prices for both teachers and students alike; making it difficult for many families not able to afford even basic items like pencils or paper ( let alone high school classes). John Dixon continued farming until his death in 1924; leaving Jane four children: Alice (Aggie), Vernon (Wernher), Lloyd (Lloyd) & Estelle (Ella). Aided by her husband's will created shortly before his death, Jane assumed control over most aspects of life at home including farm operations as well as personal finances which she used to support her children through college education and beyond. After James' death in 1948 Wayne County acquired much of southern Kern County including parts of present day Dixon from Alice's estate thereby giving birth finally to a united Kern/Davis county which still resides today! It wasn't until 1978 when Valley View Elementary School relocated from Bakersfield into present day Nixon which allowed young kids growing up near there access to an excellent public education despite costs associated with commuting time! As more people moved into towns throughout visiting America during those years + postcard era there were less opportunities available for Blacksmiths & ushers etc... Dixons got Lost again ???!! :(
