National guard gift history in Duarte, California began on December 12, 1944, when the United States War Department ordered the California National Guard to provide 1,500 soldiers and sailors for service in The Pacific War. On that date, Captain Harry A. Brownell was appointed commanding general of the 84th Infantry Division and Lieutenant Colonel William H. Dyer became acting commanding general of the National Guard Bureau's San Diego County Branch. The first order for soldiers came from General Douglas MacArthur who called upon the regiment at Fort Sill in Oklahoma on November 14, 1944. The next day (November 15), Commodore John J. Pershing activated 10 companies of American Marines from various ports along America's east coast to serve as part of Iwo Jima Liberation Force under First Lieutenant Don Peebles. Commodore John Pershing also authorized the withdrawal of two brigades (the 5th Cavalry Brigade and 3rd Infantry Brigade) from Okinawa to join MacArthur's forces before they were redeployed to Japan proper on December 7th. On January 9-10 1945, 1st Battalion (Rifle) 29th Infantry Regiment disembarked at Saipan with their equipment and replacements ready for deployment aboard USS Missouri which had been designated flagship forOperation Crossroads which would land three days later onJanuary 13th off Okinawa island in preparation for Operation Downfall which would bring an end to World War Two as we knew it! In 1946 Captain Harry Brownell retired from active duty with the California National Guard and was succeeded by his lieutenant colonel William Dyer who served until his death in 1978; after him command passed through several commanders until it finally came down to Major General Edwin Culp Jr., Commander during Desert Storm operations in 1991-1993 counterfeit national guard items were discovered among other things!

The Duarte National Guard was first organized in 1907. The unit has served in many different branches of the military, most notably World War II. In recent years, the guard has become more involved with local community outreach and disaster relief efforts.
Duarte is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 1,589 at the 2010 census. Duarte is situated on the east side of Kern River, about 20 miles north of Bakersfield and 30 miles south of Stockton. The community was founded in 1887 by Scots-Irish immigrants. The community was named for José Duarte, an early settler who platted the area and built several homes there. The first post office in Duarte opened in 1890. In 1912, Duarte had a population of 350 people and two churches; one Protestant and one Catholic. The first school in Duarte opened in 1901 and served grades K-6 until 1925 when it became a junior high school. In 1951,Duarte incorporated as a city with a population of 2,500 people; it now has a total population over 10,000 residents. In 1984, local entrepreneur Donny Hargrave donated land to the city for its first indoor skate park which remains popular to this day. That same year also saw the opening of the world's largest Jenga game tournament at the nearby Kern Valley Fairgrounds which attracted more than 150 teams from all over California and Nevada! In 2007Duartecity witnessed its first professional soccer team when FC America (now called Anahuac) came to town from San Diego to play their home games at Cal State Northridge Stadium before moving on to Southern California Soccer League affiliate Carson City United FC later that year On July 7th 2009 Duaratee’s new Police Department was dedicated within hours after being funded through fund raisers detailing how much money has been raised thus far with $2 million still needed

The National Guard is a national military reserve. The first National Guard unit was organized on July 1, 1776, when the Continental Congress created a national guard to provide backup for the First American Revolution. The first regiment of the National Guard was Mechinacle's Company of Militia from Rhode Island. On November 15, 1861, President Abraham Lincoln called for all male citizens over 18 years old to become part of the Army and Navy branches of the armed forces. As part of this call for service, it was announced that those who had belonged to militias or voluntary organizations such as Alpha Delta Phi or Rotary Clubs could also join the military in order to protect our country from attack. On December 12th, 1861, all private citizens were ordered by local authorities to enroll in either the Union army or navy if they could not already be soldiers due to their age or other qualifications. Enrollment began on January 1st 1862 and continued through February 14th 1862. During World War II there were an estimated 2 million men and women who served in both combat units and individual roles with distinction within both services including members of both the Coast Artillery Corps (CAC) which fought off Japanese Attack during Pearl Harbor and later became known as "the Arleigh Burke class" destroyers while serving in WWII; Merchant Marine corps which took part in many Allied Operation throughout WW2 including sinking six Italian submarines as well as Liberator aircraft carrier task force operations off Sicily; Red Cross ambulance corps providing medical assistance during various wars campaigns; Women's Air Force Service Pilots (WASPs) flying missions over Japan during World War II; Korean War Veterans who served in assignments such as using tanks and vehicles against North Korean forces

The town experienced rapid growth during the late 1800s due to its strategic location near Stockton and its connections to the Central Pacific Railroad. By 1904, Duarte had a population of over 1,000 people and began to build up infrastructure such as schools and a water system. The town also began to grow into an agricultural center with stores selling goods such as flour, butter, eggs, milk, vegetables, fruits and meat. During World War IIDuarte was one of several communities across California that benefited from Allied bombing raids which resulted in extensive damage to buildings and homes.
