The Dublin, California Army National Guard unit was organized on February 17, 1921, after the United States entered World War I. The unit was named for the city of Dublin, Ireland. The guard's first commander was Lieutenant Colonel John H. King. The unit served as a part-time militia until it became a full army reserve battalion in 1925. The battalion and brigade were activated in 1937 and 1938 respectively, and were redesignated as divisions on September 1, 1941. On that date they were again redesignated as brigades and then divisions again on November 15th 1947. The divisional structure changed yet again on April 25th 1951 when the brigade headquarters moved from Sacramento to Dublin along with two other brigades (the Geary Brigade and the DeSoto Brigade). This change reflected an increase in troop strength for the division due to Operation Neptune's Spear which saw Japan invade Korea during 1951-1953. On December 12th 1957 another major change occurred when Headquarters Company (HC) of District 5 (Alameda County)MAG replaced Headquarters Company of District 2 (Clarence City/Fremont County)MAG at Alameda Arsenal where the latter had been located since 1929. HC replaced both companies due to their move from Menlo Park to Dublin along with three other companies which also transferred; these companies being: Company C (Palo Alto), Company E (San Francisco), and Company F (Oakland). Finally in 1959 there was a consolidation of all four battalions into one battalion due to an increase in troop strength within the division caused by Korean hostilities coupled with a shrinking military budget throughout most of America during this time period called "The Great Patriotic Recession". In 1990 thru 1994 there was another major consolidation taking place within brigade HQs across all elements with some units moving or being disbanded while others were reassigned or re-activated primarily based out of state periods such as duty in Desert Storm or Operation Desert Shield/Operation Enduring Freedom which took place during 1991 thru 1993 . In 1995 through 1997 new brigade HQs locations were established largely out of necessity resulting from increased troop deployments worldwide including Bosnia & Herzegovina conflict as well service members returning home after tours/emergencies such as Kosovo or Iraq Combat Operations theaters etc

The city was named after Lord Dublin, who had been governor of British Honduras at the time of its founding. In 1906, Dublin became an incorporated city and has since grown to become one of the largest cities in Northern California. The history of Dublin begins with its establishment as a small town on San Francisco Bay. From there, it grew quickly and became a major center for commerce and culture during the Gold Rush era. In 1853, Captain Cook set up a trading post here and developed this area into what is now known as downtown Dublin. The early citizens were primarily Irish immigrants who were looking for a better life in America. They built restaurants, shops, churches, schools and other businesses in what is now central Dublin before moving out to ranching areas around town. During World War I, Dublin played an important role in supporting America’s war effort by providing goods and services such as food production and munitions manufacturing. After hostilities ended, however, many Irish-American veterans moved back to Ireland while their homes remained active business districts throughout Dublin. This period marked the beginning of a process that would eventually lead to Edinburgh becoming Ireland’s most populous city by 2050. Today,Dublin is home to over 1 million people who are spread across several neighborhoods including North Bridge District which features some of California’s most iconic sites such as Golden Gate Park and Fisherman’s Wharf; Southbridge District which contains some of Northern California’s tallest buildings; Chapel Hill District which includes some of the state’s largest shopping malls;and Abbey DISTRICT which houses both local government offices (including City Hall) as well as multiple high-end hotels including Sheraton Regency Hotel & Spa and Four Seasons Hong Kong Place Hotel
In 1853, Dublin, California was founded by Irish immigrants. The town was named for the city of Dublin in Ireland. The first store in Dublin opened in 1854. In 1863, a post office was established in the town and it became a small but growing community. By 1880, the population of Dublin had grown to over 100 people. A school and church were built in the town and residents enjoyed easy access to goods and services available outside of their homes. The towns growth slowed after World War I due to lack of jobs and an increase in traffic on the main street. However, during Prohibition,Dublin saw increased activity as bar owners turned to alcohol production to generate income. By 1933, however, there were only 10 people living in the town and it had completely disappeared from history radar. In 1951, Dublin was renamed after City of San Francisco Mayor James Wiltse who helped foster its growth as a city-owned enterprise development center west of downtown San Francisco
