Dublin, California is a small town located in Inyo County, California. It is the only incorporated community in Inyo County and the population was 2,681 as of the 2010 census. The name Dublin comes from a post office called "O'Dalysville" which opened on October 13, 1878. The first residents of Dublin were Simeon and Esther Gruenwald who purchased land east of the outlet mall at Ocotillo Wells Road and built a cabin on what is now known as Irish Hill. In 1881 they moved to their present location and built an adobe building that still stands today. They adopted the name Dublin because it was then all that was available for them to sell real estate within their boundaries. The original Post Office closed on February 14, 1902 due to low mail volume. In 1907, Ireland gaslighted up Main Street with its own acetylene lamp which helped start the growth of downtown Dublin. On November 1, 1907 the first bus line ran through Dublin providing transportation for locals and visitors alike; this started off as a horse-drawn streetcar service that continued until 1951 when it was replaced by buses. On July 15th, 1912 president Franklin D Roosevelt made his famous stop in Dublin during his trip down Interstate 10 from Humboldt County to Yosemite National Park during summertime vacation; he would later make another stop in nearby Eureka while campaigning for reelection in 1944 In 1967 local businessman Don Bechtel donated $10 million towards creating Scotts Valley Airport which then allowed travel into Northern California without flying into Los Angeles or San Francisco Bay Area airports like Oakland or San Jose

By 1920, Dublin had regained its former status as a major agricultural center with more than 20 mills processed through six local unions. The post-World War II boom period brought prosperity to the city but also caused many problems such as high crime rates and increasing poverty among its working class residents. In 1990, Dublin officially became an independent city after years of struggle against opposition from within its own government
