Eligible items could be anything from clothing and supplies to equipment and vehicles. The first year that The Air Force Gift Shop was open was 1946-47; throughout those years it did not offer any specific gift options other than buying government employees Christmas presents. Beginning in 1951-52, however, Gift shop participants were allowed to purchase two types of gifts: service awards and decorations for personal use by officers/ enlisted personnel only. From 1953 onwards onwards all members may purchase either type Of gift when using the shop; additionally anyone may bring in any type(s) Of gift they might have bought previously without having to return them later if it no longer met their needs! This policy change helped make sure that everyone who worked for the US military got something special on Christmas each year! Additionally since 1955 there has been an annual event where all Government Employees are able to come into town and pick up some goodies along with some great discounts on future purchases! This event is now known as "The Festival at Edwards AFB" and typically takes place over Memorial Day weekend near downtown Edwards AFB!

In 1941, the U.S. Army moved its headquarters from San Francisco to East Palo Alto, and the United States Air Force was established as an independent branch of the military in 1947. The first unit of the USAF was activated at East Palo Alto Municipal Airport on July 1, 1947. In 1954, a new elementary school was built in nearby Willow Glen and named after Lt. General Hoyt S. Vandenberg Jr., then Chief of Staff of NATO and later Secretary of Defense under Presidents Eisenhower and Johnson. The air force also donated land for a new hospital in 1951, which became known as Medical Center Drive-In (MCDR). MCDR is now home to Stanford University's School of Medicine. The USAF also donated equipment to local schools such as Palmisano Elementary School (now Galileo High School) in 1957, Westview Elementary School in 1961, Northside Junior/ Senior High School in 1966, East Palo Alto Middle/High School from 1970-1994, Hilgard Middle/High School from 1995-2002, Asimov Middle/High School from 2003-2006 and current location Mountain View High Schools since 2007

They were farmers who tilled land that had been given as part of Rancho San Lorenzo y La Paloma grant by Mexican Governor Manuel Joaquin de Arroyo y Tejada to José Antonio Herrera y Costilla because he had married into that family. From 1789 until 1821 there were no permanent residents living in East Palo Alto because it was surrounded by Spanish missions which were under occupation at that time including Monterey and Presidio del Monte

East Palo Alto was founded in 1887 by John Jessop and his brother, George. The community began as a small farming village on the east side of Palo Alto Creek, about two miles from downtown. In 1902, East Palo Alto incorporated as a city. In 1906, East Palo Alto became the site of the first attempt to create a worldwide computer network, called "Computex". 20 computers were brought to East Palo Alto from 10 different countries for the event. The success of this project led to further development of the computer industry; East Palo Alto became one of its primary sites for majorcomputer programming projects. In 1978, East Palo Altos High School was opened in neighboring Menlo Park and helped spur an increase in enrollment in nearby schools. In the 1990s,East Palo Alto experienced several economic setbacks due to heavy investment by local businesses into technology startups outside of town. However, there has been recent growth in both job opportunities and spending within the town due to new residential developments and other cultural attractions such as Art Deco architecture and literature clubs
