The store offered a variety of groceries such as bread, milk, eggs, butter, cheese, vegetables and fruits. Mrs. Bigham also sold hats and other maritime-related items such as anchors and moorings. Over time, there were many different businesses that operated at The Grapes including a laundry service operated by Mr. Whelan in 1924; an oil change shop open from 1928 until 1951; a souvenir shop (opened 1933) which included items such as postcards, photos etc.; an ice cream parlor during World War II; plus several restaurants (El Rancho Motel 1956-1960; Point Lobos 1959-1967; Dragonfly Inn 1966-1970). In 1974, The Grapes went out of business due to competition from Safeway Markets but it is still remembered today for its delicious canned goods!
