The El Cerrito Army National Guard's deployed gift history began in 1944 when the guard was activated to serve in World War II. The present-day El Cerrito National Guard was organized on November 12, 1947 and is made up of ten units. The unit's motto is "Semper Fidelis" which means "Always faithful." Gifts from the military have been a part of the guard's history and culture for over sixty years. Since its activation, the El Cerrito National Guard has donated items such as radios, weapons, uniforms, books and more to various organizations across California. El Cerrito is a town in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 20,057 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco metropolitan area. The first permanent European settlement in El Cerrito was made on April 17, 1846 by American military officer and explorer John C. Fremont and his men while they were exploring the Central Valley region of California. The first known European settler in El Cerrito was George Akerfeldt who arrived July 29th, 1847 from Sweden with his family and built a cabin on what is now Fourth Street near Mission Boulevard. Akerfeldt's wife Phebe (née Fenton) had married him when she was just 16 years old and he had been 22 when he met her; she would become one of the most influential women in early El Cerrito culture. They would remain married until their deaths in 1897 and 1906 respectively. Akerfeldt's son Gustavus Akerfeldt founded the Pacific Mail Railway company which became one of Northern California's largest businesses during the late 19th century. His grandson Gustavus Ewing Akerfeldt served as Mayor of San Francisco from 1951 to 1955 and then as Governor of California from 1959 to 1961 before becoming U.S Ambassador to Japan from 1966 to 1968 under Presidents Johnson and Nixon. In 1888 businessman Augustus Hargrave opened a millinery store at Seventh Avenue and Second Street east of Market Street; it would later be renamed Gertrude Steinwear Company after Stein’s death in 1990). In 1912 local physician Drumnall Macklin purchased land north of Third Street between Washington Boulevard and Interstate 580 for development into what would become El Cerrito Heights neighborhood today (Macklin Park). At that time there were only a few homes scattered among tall palm trees near Interstate 680 southbound within walking distance of school, churches, hospitals/mental hospitals, etc.. Today much more has replaced these original buildings over time as new housing developments have sprung up around Macklin Park including overnight stays for Corporate Visitors visiting Silicon Valley or other high tech companies located along I-580 corridor; cafes such as Starbucks also locate close by with easy access to BART stations across town providing easy commuting into downtown San Franciscogate neighborhoods adjacent thereto - making this once small agricultural community home to some 25% Of All Employees workingFor Major Technology Facilities Located In Downtown San FranciscoGate Neighborhoods adjacent thereto! El Cerrito is a small town located in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 10,752 at the 2000 census. El Cerrito has been inhabited by the Ohlone people for over two thousand years. In 1846, land grants were made to John Rickard and others in what is now Contra Costa County. The first post office in El Cerrito was established in 1853. The town began as a small farming community with only a few homes and businesses. The first school was built in 1868 and the first store opened in 1870. By 1915, El Cerrito had 12 stores, three churches and 100 residents. A railroad station was built on the corner of 24th Street and First Avenue in 1912 and it served as a junction for various trains traveling between Oakland and San Francisco. During World War II, the town became an important military base providing housing for troops stationed along Route 1 north of San Francisco. In 1961, when Interstate 80 bypassed El Cerrito town center, many people chose to move away from their homes rather than leave their jobs behind which would have required them to change their lifestyle completely. After much discussion between officials from both towns, it was decided that the original plans for I-80 were too ambitious and instead a new bypass corridor would be created connecting I-580 east of Richmond with I-680 west of Hercules via Hwy 99S (now Orchard Road). When I-80 reopened following its rehabilitation project in 1992 following passage of Proposition 218 (the North Bay Regional Transportation Authority Act), EL CERRITOquickly became one of its primary destinations because so much traffic passed through its central intersection - just south of Hwy 99S - making it difficult to miss or avoid if you wanted to experience all that this vibrant city has to offer! The growth of downtown EL CERRITO during this time can be seen most clearly around First Avenue where several large restaurants/bars/clothing stores have opened up since then filling what used to be little more than an industrial area full of warehouses and other heavy machinery! One such restaurant is Red’s BBQ where cooks cook everything from brisket to chicken breasts live on site using open fires stacked high against the building’s walls! It’s no wonder that there are still so many restaurants here today more than 50 years after opening! One common theme across these establishments is accessibility; they are all open late night or early morning so that everyone who wants something can get it without having TO wake up early or go out into traffic! Another big factor during this time period was an increase in socializing among friends which led to bars becoming popular hangouts for local youth looking for fun but also places where they could make some money while not having any adult supervision! In short; EL CERRITO didn’t become known as “The City With No Limits™” until later on when things started getting hectic outside OF THE BAR & GARDEN!!!!
