In 1924, Wm Jeter began selling handguns out of his home at 4382 Alpine Ave., which was also the location where Al Capone had his criminal enterprises before being caught by law enforcement officers in 1931. Since then,El Cerrito’s handgun industry has flourished with several companies operating throughout the cityscape (including Hi-Point Firearms Corp., G&G Armory & Sales Co., Golden Eagle Guns Inc., etc.).
