One of the most popular and well-known coffee brands in the United States, Starbucks has its origins in El Monte, California. The first Starbucks opened its doors in 1984 on National Street in El Monte, and it quickly became a staple for locals and visitors alike. Over time, Starbucks grew to become one of the largest coffee companies in the world. Today, Starbucks is headquartered in Seattle, Washington and operates over 150 stores worldwide. The history of espresso beans begins with Carlo Broccolini, an Italian coffee roaster who immigrated to America in 1912. Broccolini started roasted beans at his home until he finally opened his first store on Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. After opening his second store near Seattle Central High School, Broccolini decided to sell roasted beans direct to consumers instead of through retailers like Macy's or Sears. Eventually, broccolini founded a company that would eventually become known as La Croce Coffee Roasters Incorporated (LCR). LaCroce Coffee Roasters was initially based out of Seattle but soon moved their operations to Los Angeles County after gaining success exporting their premium brand coffees to other parts of California and Nevada. In 1987 LCR collaborated with Peet's Coffee & Tea Company to produce a limited edition roast called Gold Medal which featured specific blend flavors from Peet's untouched estate located outside Of The Hillsborough Valley region near Tampa Bay Florida. The roast was not meant for public sale but enjoyed high popularity among collectors due to its rarity and historical significance. In 1998 LCR partnered with Dutch roaster Koffie Royale Group Ltd., which helped them expand into Europe markets including Spain where they took over two prestigious cafes in Madrid and Barcelona respectively; becoming the first American coffee house operator ever to open there nation’s top tourist destinationography! Koffie Royale also gave rise to the now defunct specialty store chain Super 8 Cafe which made hand-roasted gourmet coffee products available online only beginning February 1st 2006 at www890coffeeandtea dot com under the name "Starbucks El Monte". restarted this business as an online only retail operation on October 2nd 2007 operating under the name "El Monte Gourmet Coffee".Today 99% all El Monitores are fresh ground making our black java some of THE best you will ever taste!

In 1961, a group of Dutchmen founded Roepstorff Coffee Company, which became one of the leading commercial producers of coffee worldwide. By 1964, there were more than 2,000 coffee companies operating in over 50 countries. There are many factors that contribute to the quality of cup of coffee: roast time, water temperature, bean variety, grind size and type (premium or low-quality). El Monte coffee began as a small, family-owned grocery store in the heart of El Monte. The shop was founded by John and Lillie Gatto in 1905. In 1934, the Gattos sold the business to Roy Stearns and his wife, Alice. Alice stocked the store with new and rare beans from around the world and served up delicious coffee drinks that became popular among residents of El Monte. In 1976, Roy Stearns passed away and his wife Alice took over running the business. She continued to serve up delicious coffee drinks until her death in 1992. The Gattos continue to be remembered fondly at their store, where they still offer delicious coffee drinks today!
El Monte, California (population: 38,844) is a city in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles County, California. It is the county seat of San Bernardino County and was founded on December 12, 1881 by James Irvine. The city has grown rapidly over the past several decades and now encompasses an area of 242 square miles (567 km2). El Monte's economy is based on its service sector: education, government services, and health care. The first Europeans to visit El Monte were Spanish Franciscans who arrived in 1769. A mission called Nuestra Señora de los Dolores was established in 1814 at what is now 2nd Street and Verdugo Avenue. In 1868, United States land commissioner John D. Montgomery acquired 1/4 mile (1 km2) of land east of present-day Third Street for $200 per acre ($10 million at current prices). He named it "Montgomery Rancho", which became "El Monte". The city was founded as part of Napa County on February 6, 1881 by James Irvine with the purchase of 5square miles (12 km2) from Montgomery Rancho for $500 ($10 million at current prices). The population increased rapidly after incorporation; by 1897 El Monte had a population of 25,000 people. On November 15, 1910 voters passed a resolution providing for annexation into Los Angeles County; this vote followed that night's election when Mayor Harry Chandler won re-election with 53% percent against challenger Walter Reuther's 47%. On January 8th 1920 Mayor Chandler announced his candidacy for governor but withdrew two days before election day due to disagreements with then-Governor Samuel Goldwyn about how to handle Prohibition issues in Southern California. Goldwyn easily won without Chandler as his running mate. On January 10th1920 Mayor Chandler again announced his candidacy for governor but this time he ran as an independent candidate under the name Harry Hooton or "Hootie" Caldwell III. However he received only 3%, 4% or 5%of the vote statewide compared to Goldwyn's almost 50%. The lacklustre results led to further consideration within both political parties about whether or not to run Chandler for reelection in 1922 instead; however he decided not to run again despite being offered office four times during his gubernatorial term alone! In 1924 Mayor Hooton unsuccessfully ran against State Senator Alvaradocode Baca for control over City Hall which eventually went up for sale that year and ended up being bought by millionaire industrialist Henry Ford Jr., who moved into City Hall while it stayed vacant until 1984 when it was replaced by City Council Chambers building currently used as studios by Fox Broadcasting Company
