The history of the El Paso De Robles Coast Guard Auxiliary can be traced back to 1937 when the local chapters of the National Association of Marine Police (NAMP) were founded in El Paso. At that time, there was no Coast Guard branch in El Paso and law enforcement officials from neighboring cities formed a co-operative unit to provide mutual assistance. The first officer on duty was an NAMP member named Frank Clements. The Auxiliary soon became popular among residents due to its providing help during hurricanes,Olympic games or other emergencies. In 1985, the Auxiliary celebrated its 50th anniversary and elected two officers as honorary members - Mayor Hernando Gomez and County Sheriff Harry Burton. In 2002, the Auxiliary voted to change its name to the "El Paso de Robles Coast Guard Auxiliary" in honor of then-Mayor Eduardo Martinez and County Sheriff Harry Burton who have been instrumental in keeping our community safe since 1937. Today, we continue to serve our community by providing support during events such as those held annually at Point Loma Naval Air Station or during hurricane seasons such as Katrina or Rita. We are proud that we have been able to keep our community safe for more than half a century!

El Paso De Robles is also one of the fastest-growing cities in Southern California. The first European to visit what is now El Paso De Robles was Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo on October 25, 1542. He named it San Miguel de Tucuman for his patron saint, Saint Miguel of Tucuman. The name was anglicized to its present form around 1868 when Captain Oliver Hazard Perry visited from Mexico City and recommended that El Paso be called "Miguelito." At first, many people called it simply "El Paso" because there were no other settlements nearby with that name. However, by 1881, some businesses began using "El Paso" as their business name because it had been given to them by friends or family members who had found good success here. In 1887 Charles Goodyear established a tire manufacturing company here known as Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company which quickly became one of Southern California's largest employers and generated significant economic growth throughout much of the 20th century. Goodyear's operations continued until 1992 when they merged with Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., becoming one giant company that still dominates automotive sales today across multiple product lines including motorcycles, car tires and truck tires through its wholly owned subsidiary Bridgestone Tires America LLC (BTAL). El Paso De Robles is a small town in the Central Valley of California, located about 40 miles east of San Francisco. It is the easternmost incorporated town in Los Angeles County and the second-smallest municipality in Orange County, after Anaheim. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. The name "El Paso" means "bridge over the river". The 1848 discovery of silver in this area led to rapid growth in El Paso De Robles; by 1860, it had become one of California's leading mining towns. However, as Mexicansilver prices decreased during the 1850s, many people fled to Mormon settlements farther north and west; by 1875, only 2% of El Paso's population remained born within its borders. In 1929, El Paso De Robles became an incorporated city with a population of 30 (later increased to 50). As Californias largest city expanded outward into what was then rural territory (the so-called Gold Country), El Paso DeVrosa saw less development than other established communities nearby but still experienced strong cultural ties to its birthplace. In 1995-1996 when city leaders decided that all unincorporated areas should be annexed into their jurisdiction for formation of a new unified city government - which would have included residents from all those Communities who wanted to be part of one community - much protest ensued! After much deliberation and public hearings both within and outside the City Hall building on Third Street between Vine & Figueroa Streets erupted into violence when Angelenos gained access to City Hall through an unlocked door late one night while closed off from the rest of City government...and they were not alone! They had help from some very angry locals who saw themselves as being shut out because their neighborhoods were considered more “important” or “ urbane” than those near Downtown where most governmental functions took place! The result? A vote was held on December 5th 1997 wherein all unincorporated areas were annexed back into City Limits making El Paso DeVrosa once again a united community with equal representation on City Council including Responsible Development Districts which helps moldeer ideas for redevelopment and improve quality life amenities available to everyone living within our boundaries!!!!!!!!!!!!!
