In 1902, the town was moved from its original location to its present site on an irrigation canal where it now stands. In 1932, an El Paso De Robles High School opened; it remained open until 1984 when it merged with nearby Fullerton High School to form Fullerton–Nuñez High School. A post office called El Paso De Robles was established in 1875, and remained in operation until 1907. The first resident mail carrier was Juana Avila García. The current post office building was built in 1916 and enlarged in 1954.

El Paso De Robles, California is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley on the western edge of Fresno County, about midway between Fresno and Bakersfield. The population was 7,868 as of the 2010 census. It is located at (37.735827, -117.565385). The town was founded in 1849 byename Oscar Romero and post office began operations in 1850. The name change to El Paso in 1892 when it became part of the United States following the Mexican-American War. In 1907 it became known as California's "Gateway to the Goldfields". The city was platted in 1911 and incorporated on April 12, 1912. The city's first store opened on July 1, 1912 with J S Hargrave as its proprietor. On October 25 that year a trainload of railroad ties arrived from Bakersfield for use in building a new station for El Paso; it would become one of the largest such shipments ever made to that point eastward. A total of $10,000 worth of ties were delivered and used for this project; $5,000 went into creating downspouts through which water could be drawn for irrigation purposes while $5,000 paid for land from Robert Haggerty who had holdings within minutes' walk of where the new station now stands. In 1916 two companies organized themselves to build a synthetic rubber plant at what is today known as Park Avenue and Broadway Streets; however due to World War I these plans never came to fruition because no money could be raised from investors despite offers from both local businesses (the firm later became General Tire) and Calafia Rubber Company owner George Woldenberg III himself who put up some initial money but then withdrew his support when war clouds started lift after Germany declaration of war on Austria on September 1st 1914 without consulting his American partner or friends within America’s Entente Cordiale allies France and Russia which soon followed suit with their own declarations against Austria thereby setting off another round of economic recession throughout much Western Europe which hurt El Paso especially since demand for European made tires had been increasing rapidly during prewar years thanks largely to increased production back home at Ford Motor Co., Chevrolet Motors Inc., Dodge & Jeep AGs etc.). In 1923 there were 5 paper mills active within town limits employing over 100 people including 2 Sheet Metal Workers locals #611-615 & 616 Local No 8291 also employed 3 masons/carpenters/ joiners #2133-2136 all Odd Fellows Lodge #3299 meeting monthly at Masonic Hall until 1935 when Meeting Rooms were destroyed by fire leaving only chimneys standing still an example still extant today being used as an advertising billboard Hawthorne Street side view looking east visible behind house Following World War II most manufacturing stopped although some light trucking continued until 1984 when last major manufacturer closed its doors followed by several other small businesses before becoming completely agricultural with few residents now present except occasional tourists passing through town center on their way north or south
