In 1836, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna founded Misiones with his extensive land holdings north of Palo Alto in what are now San Mateo County and Del Norte County. After independence from Mexico was granted by Ulysses S. Grant in 1865, LopezSanta Anna sold all his properties east of downtown Los Angeles to John Witte for $2 million dollars ($ as of 2019). In 1870, JOSEPHINE MORRISON started a weekly paper called "The Californian" which she published from her home until it burned down in 1872 while she was attending a convention in Boston.. She moved her paper copies to Angel Island where she kept them until destroyed by fire herself two years later.. In 1875 LOUISIANA STONE built the first successful freighter ship off the coast of Southern California when he sailed into Port Hueneme Harbor laden with goods bound for New Orleans.. This event marked the beginning of commercial shipping along the then unpopulated coast between Point Conception and Monterey Bay Beach.. In 1880 ELIZABETH TAYLOR erected a small adobe building known as "The Lady's Rest" overlooking El Paso harbor as a private retreat for her husband EDWARD TAYLOR although it never achieved much fame because no regular passengers or cargo ever arrived there .. A year later during an earthquake measuring 7.1 tremor killed over 100 people mainly women and children living near Pico Rivera town center when their homes collapsed due to free fall forces caused by shaking floor timbers under pressure from ruptured gas mains nearby In 1903 THEODORE ROOSEVELT visited El PasoDeRobles during his “ Progress Expedition” traveling through southern Baja California state on behalf of President Theodore Roosevelt . He left accounts describing scenes including: “a beautiful white sand beach without blemish; crystal clear water so refreshing you might drink it up; billowing white clouds high overhead; gayeties gracing every aspect Of life wherever he went” the following year RONALD REAGAN came through Baja California during his presidential campaign visit also documenting similar scenes described by Roosevelt but adding new details such as exposing large oil refineries offshore

El Paso De Robles is located east of Interstate 10 and north of Interstate 15. By 1950 there were nearly 2,000 residents living in El Paso de Robles with just over 100 businesses meeting all needs including health care and education However , rapid economic decline beginning in the late 1960s led to increased crime rates which have continued even into recent years With dwindling jobs opportunities outside Mexico City and other major Mexican cities – combined with ongoing political instability in neighboring Central America — much economic activity has centered around smuggling goods across the border now known as "B2B" or business to business
