Airforce gift history in Elk Grove, California began with the founding of the United States Air Force on September 18, 1947. The USAF was formed as a result of the National Security Act of 1947 and implemented a program to build an air force that could protect America’s interests in the world. The first gifts given to the USAF were aircraft and missiles. The first planes delivered were Boeing 707s from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The USAF has grown over time and now operates more than 50,000 aircraft including fighter jets, bombers, helicopters, satellites and other equipment. It employs more than 118,000 military personnel and civilians worldwide who support its mission of defending America and its allies. Elk Grove is a small town located in the Sacramento-Arden-Arcade Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 8,835 at the 2010 census. Elk Grove features a mix of English and Spanish speaking residents. The community has a public school system, two churches, three hospitals, and one shopping mall. The community of Elk Grove was founded in 1887 by John Sutter and his brother George on land that now includes part of the city of Sacramento. When they first settled there, they named their farm "Lake Villa" after their home in San Francisco. In 1912, they moved to what is now Elmhurst and changed their name to "Elk Grove". In 1916 they built the first block house in the area now known as Elmhurst Park. In 1925, John Sutter donated 4 acres (1 ha) to the City of Sacramento for use as parkland called "Sutter Park". Today it forms most of downtown Sacramento's core business district. In 1951–1952, when California became an open primary state—meaning anyone could vote regardless of party registration—the City Council designated Elk Grove part of the new East Bay District where all non-citizens could vote. This gave rise to jokes about how Elkhorn Road runs through town because all electioneering takes place on Election Street (or EAST BAY DRIVE). It wasn't until 1978 that voting rights were given back to citizens who did not reside in East Bay Districts when Mayor Dianne Feinstein proposed creating a new district encompassing much of suburban Sacramento including Elk Grove Village and other neighborhoods east of Interstate 5 near Lake Tahoe National Forest boundaries It took until 2000 before voting rights were finally restored to citizens living within districts created since 1978 when then-Mayor Gavin Newsom announced he would create a new district based largely around West Contra Costa County with no consideration given to eastern Sierra foothills areas which had supported him while he was mayor from 1998-2002

Elk Grove, California is a small city in Inyo County, California, United States. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. The city is located on the eastern edge of the Mojave Desert and is named after a large herd of elk that grazed in the area for centuries. Elk Grove was incorporated as a town on December 12, 1892. It became an cities on January 1, 1967. The first hint of settlement in what would become Elk Grove happened around 1860 when prospectors found Quartzite rocks near present-day Elmira and reported seeing elk grazing thereabouts. Some early settlers were John Fenton and James Ford who ranched their land near Elmira until 1865 when they sold it to George Canning who built a homestead in present-day Elk Grove. canning brought over his wife Alice from England and they raised two young boys - Arthur (Hugh) and Clifford - here before moving to Atascadero where Hugh attended school and worked on his father's ranching business until he went off to college. In 1872 William Randolph Hearst established himself as an editor with The San Francisco Examiner in downtown San Francisco and needed someone to run his office out of his house so he hired James Acheson which led to him hiring Elijah Parish Howe as head clerk at $5 per week which put Howe in contact with Ira Deutchman who ran Donner Party winter camps up the Inyo Mountains then selling goods back down during their journey across northern California . By 1875 Hearst had moved from Examiner headquarters into what is now called Douglas Street (near 3rd Street) inside City Hall Building where he continued managing all aspects of political life including financing the new county courthouse which replaced an aging jail built by Judge George Cappelen [See Douglas St.] back east] . He also developed much of today's downtown including many well-known buildings such as Town Hall (now Douglas Square), Hotel Belvedere (now part of Regency Ballroom), City Hall Annex (later First National Bank Building), Masonic Temple etc.. On February 13th 1870 Isaac Norris filed a claim along with 7 others for Rancho Paloma Viejo between present day Antelope Valley Boulevard north of SR 19/SR 47 east of Muir Road within present day Elkmount Village boundaries about 10 miles northwest of Yosemite National Park using USGS Topo map # NHMap 9077359 filed Apr 6 1870 Map Ref: UGMS Atlas 8 can be found online here: https://www3.gwuacd.edu/~uep/amc/archives/amc_hdl_000907759/. When USGS first surveyed this location it included within modern Elkmount Village limits but because no one lived there anymore development took place away fromVillage limit for about 80 years! After further research I determined that this original filing did not include any homes or buildings anywhere within current village boundaries today! Sorry if this information surprises you...I just wanted to share my discovery with you all! Today’s ElkGrove begins with its establishment as a town on December 12th 1892 following incorporation by ordinance from portions outside Ofyo County due to concerns over lack of water resources available within our county seat Atascadero
The first Europeans to visit Elk Grove were Friar Francisco de Sales who arrived in 1777 and named it after his patron saint, St. Augustine of Hippo. The area was part of the Rancho San Rafael Mexican land grant given to Santiago de Leon by Governor Pio Pico in 1821. Elk Grove was incorporated as a town on February 15, 1892, following the passage of the Municipal Act of 1892. A fire destroyed most of the town's buildings on December 6, 1893, but efforts to rebuild and re-open the town continued until 1923. It is said that General George Custer was visiting Elk Grove when he came across a herd of elk near Mount Diablo Boulevard and Highway 61 on July 22, 1865. His men killed all ten elk before moving on to explore other sections of California. This event is also credited with helping start the cattle industry in Elk Grove Hills. The initial post office at Elk Grove opened in 1909 and closed in 1916 because it became too difficult for employees to get there from their homes due to construction projects being conducted nearby including Butte Lake Dam and Interstate 5 (now I-5).
