From 1959-1983, the unit consisted of a Headquarters Company (HQ) and three companies: A Company (established 1961), B Company (1965), and C Company (1968). In 1983, HQ & C Companies were consolidated into one battalion leading to an increase in size from 133 soldiers to 255 soldiers over time. In 2006, after years of planning,encinitasnationalguardbattalioncompleted its 4th decade of service with a new armament program that has resulted in more than $30 million being invested in equipment for our military men and women across all branches of service! The Battalion is composed of 3 companies each: Airmobile/Aircraft Maintenance Squadron 1-2; Armor/Armory Support Squadron 1; Field Artillery/Field Artillery Battalion 3 which brings us up to 6 cannons per battalion! These cannons are behind cover at various locations within town limits as part of our artillery support capabilities should we ever need them!

The name Encinitas comes from Spanish meaning "hills of the sun". The first people to live in Encinitas were Adobeites who ranched and collected firewood on Rancho Santa Fe de Encinitas (now Rancho San Carlos). They were replaced by Ohlone people about 1250 AD. A mission was established here in 1821 by Father José Gomez and named Mission del Carmen after the Carmenita castle near Mexico City. In 1892, mining began on Oroville Dam and led to a rush of people and businesses into Encinitas; this caused many homes to be built too high on hills for easy access or broad streets that now run behind them making it difficult to walk or bike. Businesses included grocery stores, laundry facilities, printing presses, general stores and theaters which all thrived during the early days of radio broadcasting and movie production in Northern California. It wasn't until 1915 when an express train service started between Encinitas Junction on Interstate 5 southbound and Escondido Junction northbound running through downtown Encinitas with stops at all three local stations before continuing eastward along I-5 to Salinas; this made it possible for residents and visitors alike to get their news from one end of the state to the other without having to go all the way down I-5. After World War II came a time when businesses declined as technology advanced leading some residents to move away while others chose not to leave because they could still enjoy what they had left behind including handsome brick houses dating back to 1907 that are now used as condominiums .
