Eureka is a city in California, United States. The population was 345 as of the 2010 census. Eureka is located on Humboldt Bay, about 25 miles (40 km) south of San Francisco and 2 miles (3 km) north of Guerneville. It was named for the discovery of gold by prospector John D'Urse in 1858. The town began as an agricultural community named for the two small streams that ran through it—the Eureka and the Gough. The first store opened in 1869, and a post office called Eureka opened in 1870. Most people at this time did not call themselves "Eureka," but rather "Humboldt." In 1876, developers found oil under the ground near where Humboldt County now stands. On December 12, 1880, they drilled into what would become Eureka Gold Mines and discovered $2 million worth of gold! This led to a rush to develop these mines; within months, there were 1,500 businesses operating in and around Eureka. However, due to various problems with mining – such as water shortages – production stopped abruptly in 1886. By 1890, only 10 percent of the gold had been mined from the original claims; however, some remnants still remain today from earlier operations such as those at Murchison Hill Mine #2 and Carlin Hill Mine #1A. Today much of what remains from earlier operations can be seen at sites such as Murchison Hill Mine #2 (which has been restored), Carlin Hill Mine #1A (which is open to tours), and Whipple Farmstead (#5). In addition to its historical significance, Eureka also has many modern amenities available including: a library/media center/parking garage/arts museum complex; tennis courts; golf courses; health club/spa; restaurants; bars; and retail stores including Sears & Roebuck etc..

In 1895, the company became part of the Holland Coffee Corporation. The Dutch coffee industry experienced a rapid expansion following World War II, which led to increased demand for coffee beans. As a result, the Holland Coffee Corporation began manufacturing its own coffee products in 1953. In 1995, the company merged with United Brews Group to form United Brews Holdings Inc.
Eureka, California was founded on January 8, 1851 by James H. Watt and his brothers. The town was named after the newly discovered gold field in California that had been discovered just two years earlier. The first store in Eureka opened its doors on December 6, 1850. In 1852, the Watt brothers patented a system for refining gold from ore which they called the "Watt Process." By 1854, over 100 businesses had located in Eureka and it enjoyed a population of up to 1,500 people. On February 14th of that year, United States President James K. Polk awarded Watt's patent to John Sutter for $5,000. Although this marked an important milestone for Eureka and its citizens, it did not mean that the town would become a major center of commerce. It took until 1861 for Eureka to become a county seat when Gold Rush fever diminished demand for goods produced in the area and new towns were established elsewhere during that period
