Withdrawal of U.S troops from California following World War II allowed for redevelopment of portions of Eureka into modern day towns and villages. Today, Eureka is known for its natural beauty and Historic Districts which are included within numerous national monuments including Yosemite National Park and Mono Lake National Monument
