Fairfield is a city in the county of Santa Clara, California. The population was 48,569 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Peninsula San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara corridor and straddles both sides of San Francisco Bay. The city has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa), with warm to hot days and cool nights year round. The first Europeans to explore what is now Fairfield were Spanish colonists who mapping their route from missions in Vallejo to Monterey in 1821 made contact with the Ohlone people who lived near them on what is now known as El Sobrante Creek. In 1853, Russian American gold prospector James Wickersham explored the area and named it after his home town of Saint Petersburg, Russia. In 1859, construction began on Fort Point at Coyote Hill by Captains Elisha Kane and John Doyel for guardship over Mission Santa Clara de Asís until that post was relocated to Point Lobos in 1867. By 1860, there were over 20 buildings erected within Fairfield City limits; most of these were used for stores or government offices during this early period when transportation was by land route only. In 1861–1862, construction began on First National Bank which would become one of the largest banks in California and help develop downtown Fairfield into what it is today including its many cultural institutions such as The Shakespeare Company & Californian Opera House, The University of California Museum of Modern Art (UCMMA), Andraz Djansezian Gallery & Performance Space and numerous other businesses including Safeway Supermarket chain store opened its first location in downtown Fairfield along with several movie theaters which helped grow the downtown business district around Veteran's Memorial Highway up until about 1990 when all but one theater closed down because of competition from Hollywood Studios developments nearby

These collections formed the nucleus for what would become the USAF Gift History program. In 1945, when World War II began, many Air Force members were stationed overseas. Because there wasn’t enough equipment or personnel to send home large quantities of Gifts, commanders turned to donations from civilians and other service members for gifts. This system evolved over time into what we know today as the USAF Gift History program. Gift histories vary in size but typically consist of a basket or parcel filled with items donated by individuals within civilian life or from within Air Force command structures itself (e.g., senior enlisted leaders). Each story tells a unique tale about how air force members have come together to celebrate life, loved ones, success and accomplishment on behalf of their comrades-in-arms abroad during wartime; these days it is often said that no twoAir Force Gift Histories are ever exactly alike!

In 1853, a group of Mexicans who were working on the American Pacific Railroad in Fairfield, California founded the Mexican National Benevolent Association to provide a social and economic support system for their Mexican immigrant compatriots. The association soon became known as the "Fairfield Club." In 1906, the club was renamed Fairfield's Chamber of Commerce. The chamber played an important role in promoting trade and industry in Fairfield and its surrounding communities, helping to grow local businesses. In 1938, the chamber merged with several other organizations to become the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Today, the chamber is one of Northern California's leading business entities and play a significant role in developing our region's economy.
The first permanent settlement in Fairfield was made by the brothers John and Henry Haverhill in 1795. They came from Connecticut. The town started off as a small trading post on the east side of the San Gabriel River, but soon grew into a large village. In 1824,Fairfield became part of Los Angeles County.
