In the early 1960s, they started a small roastery and coffee shop called The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.Throughout their years of business, they continued to experiment with different flavor profiles and brewing methods. By the late 1980s, they had developed an intense cult following among coffee lovers around the world for their unique smallbatch coffees. In 1992, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf opened its own restaurant in Fairfield known as The café de la Casa de los Cafés. This was followed by a store on Olive Street in 1998. Fairfield is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 32,868 as of the 2010 census. The namesake of Fairfield is George Washington Fairfield, who was born here in 1788. A post office called Fremont was established at this time; it ceased operations in 1864 because it was too far away for most people to travel. In the late 19th century agriculturalists turned to growing grapes for wine production; early vineyards included those of Elisha Henwood and his son Amos Henwood on Vallejo Street between First Street and Central Avenue. After World War II many new industrial plants were built along I-5 including General Electric's Site C Dam which created Lake San Jacinto; these have destroyed much of downtown Fairfield with accompanying loss of jobs and housing values which have yet to be fully compensated for. After years of debate some changes were made to zoning ordinances within Fairfield allowing retail development within walking distance of homes while maintaining single family home values unchanged thereby preserving historic neighborhoods such as Hillcrest Estates east of Main Street which are now one block long commercial strips with high rises towering over their once beautiful residences dating back to before World War II
