Farmersville, California has a long and proud history of gunfire. The town was founded in 1847 by John Sutter, who arrived in the area with his family from northern California. The Sutter Ranch was one of the first large ranchos in the area, and it soon became known for its delicious grapes. The town also became well-known for its annual December Gun Show, which attracted many buyers and sellers from nearby towns. The Gun Show tradition continued until at least 1984, when it was replaced by the October Shootout Tournament. That event is now considered to be the "official" beginning of the Farmersville Christmas season.

The Farmersville Rifle and Pistol Club has been in operation since 1892. It is one of the oldest rifle clubs in California. The club has a rich history, including involvement in World War II, the Vietnam War, and most recently, the current conflict in Syria.
Farmersville is a small town located in San Bernardino County, California. It was founded in 1887 by men who arrived from Illinois. The population of Farmersville was 524 at the 2000 census. The community is named after American farmer George Washington Farmer. The first post office in Farmersville was established in 1889. In 1912, the name of the town was changed to North Vernon to honor General John Neely McAllister, Jr., who served as United States Representative from California from 1911-1915 and 1918-1921. Today, there are only a few businesses in Farmersville and most people live within the community or nearby towns such as North Vernon or Diamond Valley. Farming has been an important part of the local economy for many years and continues to be so today with a wide variety of crops cultivated including vegetables, fruits, milk products, hay, potatoes and grains. There are also a few small businesses that produce manufactured items such as computers and home appliances. The history of farmersVILLE goes back over 100 years! Men have come to this area for work since it became part of Mexico during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). Many men came here looking for land that had been lost because of gold discoveries in Northern California. They were successful enough at farming that they returned home to start up their own families and continue what they had done before; working together with their neighbors on their properties until it became too difficult or too dangerous to do so alone again. By 1880 there were over 20 farmersfamilies living near where we stand today! In 1886 when America’s first post office opened here in north Vernon (now Diamond Valley), everyone wanted to get involved! With all those new immigrants coming into our neck of the woods - many wanting some piece of this newly formed country - there must have been something special about Farmersville! We still believe that if you want something done well, ask 12 different people how they did it – THAT’S HOW WE DID IT HERE IN NORTH VERNON FOR OVER 100 YEARS!!! Today we still take pride in being “the last stop on your road trip” – whether you’re traveling down Interstate 10 or just passing through on your way somewhere else! Farming has been a part of California life since the 1800s. The Siskiyou Mountains, which run along the western edge of the state, were first home to Native Americans and then to Spanish settlers. By 1850, however, farming had become an important industry in California. In Farmersville, a small town located about 20 miles east of Sacramento on the banks of the largest river in California, people were first involved in agriculture as early as 1849. The town was founded by John C. Fremont and his brother Jameson Fremont on land that they had acquired from Juan Bautista Alvarado. The Fremont family developed a successful agricultural business in Farmersville. They produced crops such as wheat, barley, potatoes, cottonseed oil andashes (a type of fruit), dairy products and hay for export to other states. Through their businesses and their daughter Clara’s efforts at teaching school in Farmersville during much of the 19th century, many families managed to keep their homes and farmland while also providing some modest support for themselves through crop production and livestock husbandry. During World War II, Agricultural Corps soldiers barracks were built around milepost 16 on Highway 99 near present-day Menlo Park; these barracks served as a training ground for war farmers who would work on farms after being discharged from military service. After the war ended in 1945, most farmhands returned to their homes but some continued working on local farms until they left again for good in the late 1970s or early 1980s when technology made it easier to mechanize agriculture throughout much of North America . In recent years there have been efforts by residents of Farmersville to revive its economy by developing new businesses within its boundaries or outside them including: meatpacking company Tyson Foods Inc., software company Oracle Corporation’s headquarters complex known as “the braintrust” area adjacent to Interstate 5 Exit 238 which houses Googleplex Inc., Dollar General Stores Inc., China Minsheng Bank & Trust Co., and several restaurants including Napa Valley Brewing Company .
Farming in Farmersville began in 1847 when John Fenton, a farmer and prospector, discovered gold on the San Joaquin River. He named his new land the Gold Rush country and started mining for gold. The first farming families arrived in Farmersville in 1849. They operated small farms near the river. In 1858, a large farm was bought by J.C. Goodwin and moved to what is now Farmersville from Donora, California. Goodwin ran the farm until his death in 1899. His son, Augustus Goodwin, continued the farm until it was sold to J.D. Jones in 1925. Jones ran the farm until he died in 1944; his son then took over ownership of the farm and continues to run it today.
