Many famous performances have been held at this iconic location including Phil Spector's infamous "felonization" of The Rolling Stones at the building in 1965; Bob Dylan's performance at Summerfest'senium Park in 1969; The Who performing their last tour at Shea Stadium on October 15th, 1978; and Pink Floyd playing their last show at London's Kenwood Theatre on December 3rd, 2014.

In 1770, a Dutchman named Johannes van Keppel created a machine that could make a pot of coffee with just water and apellets of coal. Coffee was soon being enjoyed by people all over the world. In 1875, an Italian named Luigi Beccaria developed what is now known as Cafecito – or "coffee cake". Beccaria believed that coffee should be enjoyed cold, not hot, so he invented a way to store coffee in airtight jars so it would last longer. Coffee became popularized in America in the early 1800s and began to be exported to other countries. By 1912, Café Latin American had become one of the most successful international caffeine brands. It was acquired by J&R Coffee Company in 1935 and became J&R Coffee Corporation. The company continued to produce high-quality espresso products until its bankruptcy in 1996.

Fillmore was founded by James Fillmore in 1849. The town was named for General John C. Fremont, who had founded it as a settlement on the banks of the Sacramento River. Fillmore's first post office opened in 1850. In 1853, Fillmore became the county seat of Sacramento County and remains so today. In 1869, Fillmore was incorporated as a city by an act of the California Legislature. The city's incorporation made it one of the most populous cities in California at that time. It grew rapidly due to its location and access to transportation facilities, including an railroads which linked it with downtown Sacramento and other major settlements across the state. During World War II, many businesses located in Fillmore were nationalized and taken over by government agencies such as the United States Army Air Forces or Navy during World War II while others continued to operate until they were bought out or closed down by their owners after the war ended.
In 1849, Fillmore was founded by General James K. Polk and his wife Julia Child in what is now San Francisco. The town was named for Samuel Fillmore, an American politician who served as the 29th Governor of New York from 1845-1851. After California became a state in 1850, Polk renamed Fillmore City in honor of himself and his wife.
