The first coffee house in Fillmore was established in 1895 and it remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in town. There are now several coffee houses in the town, as well as a number of cafes that serve coffee daily. Some of the earliest cafes serving coffee were Jardin Coffee House, which opened in 1892; and Grapeseed Coffee House, which was opened in 1916. The popularity of coffee has continued to grow over time, with many people wanting to enjoy a cup of Joe every day. The Fillmore Auditorium was a concert hall in San Francisco, California. It opened on May 17, 1907 as the largest and most important venue of its kind in the United States. The Fillmore became an important center for rock and roll music during the late 1940s and early 1950s, with recordings by Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, and other major artists being made there.
Fillmore was founded by George Fillmore in 1851 as a small town near Sacramento. It grew rapidly, becoming the largest city in California and one of the most populous in America by 1870. In 1876, Fillmore became the capital of California and it remains an important cultural and political center today. The area now known as downtown Fillmore was first settled in the 1840s by American pioneers who followed the Santa Fe Trail from New Mexico to California. The city's first store was opened in 1848 by two brothers, John and Salmon Peebles. In 1850, when George Fillmore started fillmoring his hometown of Sacramento, he had no idea that it would become one of America's leading cities 50 years later. When he arrived at his new location near Sacramento’s central square called “The Plaza” on July 8th of that year, there were only a few hundred people living hereabouts; but within 2 years or so (1851), Fillmore had built himself a large town with some 8000 citizens - making him one of the earliest settlers in this part of California. At first, fillingmoring took place mainly among fur trappers and miners who had come overland during earlyCalifornias great gold rush; but soon enough other classes began moving into Fillmore also- including farmers, builders and merchants who invested their money in its growth. A cotton gin was built hereabouts soon after (1857) – turning out quality cotton yarn for American export.. A schoolhouse (1858) – which still stands today – served as both an education facility for children living nearby and also as an entertainment venue for folks from surrounding towns like Benicia and Millbrae where dances were often given at night outdoors onacre lot beside watercourse called East Creek due to its wide distributary stream flowing through it.. In 1862 when General Don Carlos Buell invaded California from Mexico City with 20 thousand troops under his command, many residents decided to stay behind to defend their homes against what they saw as invaders rather than flee to Sonoma County or Nevada where Buell might have landed them………. These people are now considered Californios! And they continue to call themselves such even though most all white residents relocated eastward during this time….. Families such as those mentioned above formed what is known today as Old town Fillmore along Main Street between Third Avenue & Fourth Avenue….. while newer areas such as North Park developed around University Avenue/Wesleyan Hills Cemetery………. Today you can see evidence of these earlier times all around Downtown: old buildings found dating back to before 1860 remain standing tall despite being extensively renovated/ restyled since then; plenty of pioneer artifacts can be found scattered about like Frontier pottery sherds dating back to before 1850… There is also much recent development going on inside & outside downtown fillMORE however…………………. fillMORE has undergone many changes throughout its centuries- including becoming one of America’s fastest growing major cities simply because it has been continuously inhabited by more people than any other place on Earth!

The next year, they moved to what is now downtown Fillmore and began trading goods with the surrounding villages. In 1854, Joshua Fillmore organized the town of fillmore into a city charter under the name of "Fillmore City". He also founded what is now the University of California at Santa Cruz.
