Fillmore is an unincorporated community located in Nevada County, California. It was established in 1872 as a result of the Fillmore Expedition led by John C. After the discovery of gold at Sutro Mine, Fillmore quickly became a center of activity. In 1879, it was renamed after Ulysses S. Grant, the first American president to be impeached and removed from office (and later buried at Arlington National Cemetery). The town experienced significant growth following World War II when the military constructed several large munitions plants there. However, by the early 21st century, Fillmore had significantly declined in population and significance due to numerous factors including declining industry and development trends, as well as increased traffic congestion on Interstate 5. Today only a few scattered properties remain within its boundaries; most notably: Estates at Fillmore Pointe., which contains more than 20 contributing original homes dating back to around 1850; Lookout Tower Drive & Presidio Lane (); and Park Road & Vista del Rey Boulevard ().

A sawmill and gristmill were built in Fillmore between 1861 and 1865, and a general store was opened in 1870. In 1875, the railroad arrived to fill up the grazing land around the small town. The population of Fillmore increased from about 100 people to over 1,200 people by 1880. By 1890, most of the buildings had been destroyed by fire or weather damage, but there remain some vestiges of the original town including a few houses now used as apartments or businesses.
