The National Guard was first organized in California on October 25, 1846. The purpose of the National Guard was to provide law and order during times of rebellion or insurrection. The National Guard has been in existence in California for over 60 years. In that time, the Guard has received many accolades from the state government and the public alike for its contribution to society. Some of the most famous members of the National Guard have included Captain John C. Fremont (1825-1902), who served as Commandant of the California State Militia; Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer (1863-1937), a Medal of Honor recipient who commands an armored regiment nicknamed "Custer's Own"; and Warrant Officer First Class Roy Price (1941-2015), who served as an Army Second Lieutenant during World War II and is currently serving as an Air Force Reserve Sergeant Major. A number of Governors have also served terms with the Guard, including: Adm. George H. Kerr (appointed 1947-1950); Govt. of Nevada Jack Roush (appointed 1952-1959); Govt. Jerry Brown (elected 1974); Govt. Arnold Schwarzenegger (elected 1986); Govt. Gray Davis (elected 2002). In recent years, there has been a focus on preserving and celebrating our military heritage within our communities across America through events like Reenactments and Battle reenactments along military roadsides throughout America's heartland regions
The National Guard is a voluntary military militia of the United States. The National Guard is composed of all state militias, as well as the Puerto Rican Militia and the Air National Guard. There are currently over 1 million members in the National Guard, making it one of the largest militaries in the United States. The origins of the National Guard date back to 1792 when Article IV, Section 3 of the US Constitution created a military reserve to protect American sovereignty against potential foreign aggression. The first national guard units were organized in 1824 and served under federal auspices until 1861 when they became state militias. During World War II, there was an increase in enlistments due to mobilization efforts during President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal programs which included increased funding for military defense and gun confiscation initiatives known as "the Gun Law." After Pearl Harbor, Congress renewed legislation authorizing national guard status on December 16th, 1941 with an addition of troops from California and Nevada who had been mobilized pursuant to that state's "readiness law." On July 14th 1947 President Harry S Truman authorized establishment of a permanent National Guards Division within USDA which would develop plans for expanding manpower for Federal Emergency Management Agency purposes and other emergency management activities. On October 1st 1948 authority was delegated from USDA to commanders-in-chief (CIC) Army Corps of Engineers at army headquarters level with operational control vested in Service Commanders . This shift underscored Commander-in-Chief government policy direction over battlefield operations with corps commanders reporting directly to Headquarters Military Department which controlled Army Ground Forces personnel resources nationwide
The National Guard has been in Fillmore, California since the early 1800s. The first unit in Fillmore was the 1st Cavalry Regiment, which arrived on horseback from Nevada in 1849. From then until 1865, when the regiment was disbanded, it patrolled and protected the area around Fillmore. In 1865, the 1st Infantry Regiment arrived from Santa Fe and served for two years before being disbanded. In 1881, a battalion of riflemen from Marin County arrived and served for six months before being sent home. In 1892 a battalion of cavalry also arrived and stayed for three years until its dissolution. From 1902-1904 a detachment of artillery troops came to help with policing and firefighting in downtown Fillmore. This detachment was known as Battery C; their commander was Colonel Charles Fenton (1847-1920). In 1906 another detachment of artillery troops came to help with policing and firefighting; this time they were known as Battery D. Their commander was Colonel John Waddell (1847-1927). Batteries A through D remain active to this day; however Battery E is no longer present due to closure of the military post by Army authorities at Fort Irwin during World War II. However, battery E remains inactive on historic grounds adjacent to Fort Irwin across Lassen Boulevard from what is now KFC restaurant
FILLMORE, CA (June 12, 2013) - As Californians prepare for summertime and the new season of music festivals, they are also celebrating Fillmore's 25th anniversary. The Fillmore is one of the most popular live music venues in the United States and has been hosting some of the biggest names in rock and roll since it opened its doors on July 17, 1974. Since then, Fillmore has seen a number of changes - but its popularity as a live music venue hasn't wavered. Today, the Fillmore features an expanded festival repertoire with both main stage and intimate clubs available on-site. It's no wonder that it's become one of America's leading tourist attractions. The history of theFillmore can be traced back to 1974 when local promoter Don Was founded what would eventually become known as fillmorespeed Records. Was was looking for a place where he could put his own artists up against each other so that everyone could have a chance to see them perform live. He found his answer when he met legendary manager Ted Nugent at a party at Lenny Bruce's house. Nugent was impressed by Was' vision for the venue and agreed to help promote it himself. The first show took place on July 17th, 1974 and featured performances by Eddie Cochran, Buffalo Springfield, The Zombies, Alice Cooper/The Impressions and more than 50 others! In just two years, fillmorespeed had booked over 250 shows at various venues around California! In 1977-1978 MCA Records became involved with fillmorespeed and allowed us to use their studios in downtown Los Angeles for our recordings while we continued to tour throughout Southern California promoting our events there as well as Nationwide! In 1980 we moved into our current location which is now home to 5000 fans inside including three bars/theaters which can seat up to 350 people each! We've never looked back since we opened here 25 years ago...and neither has our audience!!

In 1861, the Union army attacked and invaded Kentucky, and the national guard was called into action. The national guard fought in many battles during the Civil War, most notably at Gettysburg Address. After the war, theGuard continued to be used for general law enforcement and military purposes until it was disbanded in 1971. Today, there are several thousand National Guard soldiers living in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. They serve as volunteers with an emphasis on community service and promotional outreach to state governors and local leaders. Guardsmen can also find opportunities to join units throughout the US military or Law Enforcement agencies that have similar missions or want to learn more about what the Guard has to offer. There is some controversy surrounding gift giving within the National Guard- some people feel that gifts are not necessary given how often members are called into action (especially given their long history) while others find unique items or items related to their unit appealing gifts that keep them excited for future events or deployments. Regardless of opinion, one thing is for sure- any gift bought for a member of the National Guard will be appreciated!

Fillmore is a small town in Kern County, California, located on the east side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The name Fillmore comes from Fillmore Ranch, which was originally part of the Rancho San Francisco Mexican land grant. The first post office in Fillmore was established on July 4, 1852. The community developed as a result of the construction of the Central Pacific Railroad in nearby San Bernardino County and its later extension to Fernley and other communities along that line. At its peak during World War II, Fillmore had a population of 1,200 people. It has since shrunk to 100-150 people due to various factors including industry closures and a move by some residents to adjacent Bakersfield. In recent years there have been efforts to resurrect interest in FillMORE through events such as music festivals and art exhibitions; however these efforts have met with mixed feelings among residents who feel they are losing their unique character while others see them as an opportunity for growth.
FILLMORE, CALIFORNIA - The Fillmore Auditorium was a large music hall located in downtown San Francisco, California. It opened in 1907 and was the largest auditorium in the United States until it was surpassed by the Golden Gate Park's Stinson Gardens in 1915. In 1963, it was purchased by the Grateful Dead and renamed The Fillmore East. It played host to some of their most famous concerts including their first tour of North America, which took place at the venue on October 15th, 1966.
