The United States Navy has a long and rich history in Fillmore. The navy played an important role in American history, and Fillmore is home to one of its most famous warships- the USS Constitution. The USS Constitution was built in 1801, and served as the flagship of Commodore John W. Sloat’s expedition against Spanish Cuba. After passage through San Francisco Bay, the Constitution sailed into Havana Harbor on January 1st, 1802, becoming the first U.S. ship ever to visit that country. Over her many years of service she carried out dozens of missions including patrolling America’s coasts and operating off Mexico City during the Mexican Revolution. In 1954, when California became a state, the navy donated two boats – the HMCS Empress (later renamed HMS Albion) and HMCS Montreal (later renamed HMCS Acapulco). This gave Fillmore its first naval vessel from any state in America! In 1978, HMS Cornwall was donated to Fillmore by Captain Roger Keyes of Canada’s Royal Canadian Navy who had commanded her at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base during Operation Neptune’s Spear which ended Cuban rebels fighting for Fidel Castro. Today there are three active warships based in fillmore-the USNS Impeccable (CG 58), USNS Sentinel (LHD 7)and USNS Coral Sea (LHD 5). All three vessels are part of Destroyer Squadron 4 which is headquartered at Naval Station Lemoore in Solano County California. As well as providing coastal security for Southern California it also provides training for Coast Guard members throughout Northern California and parts of Nevada

FILLMORE, CALIFORNIA (June 9, 1859-May 14, 1951) was an American drummer and musicologist. He is best known for his work on the fillmoreensis tribal group of Native Americans. Born in Fillmore, California, Fillmore became interested in drums at an early age and soon began playing with local bands. In 1875 he joined the United States Marine Band as a drum major and toured throughout the country. In 1876 he played with the Provisional Confederate Band in Richmond Virginia during the American Civil War. In 1879 Fillmore moved to San Francisco and joined theexiled Mexican bandeleros called "Los Pinos". He played with them until they were deported to Baja California in 1880. There he met José Santiago y Márquez who had migrated from Santa Fe New Mexico some years earlier and helped him start a new band called Los Pipitos de la Sierra Nevada de Santa Barbara. The first performance of this new band took place at a dance hall in Monterey on October 1, 1881. In 1886 Fillmore returned to San Francisco where he founded the Philharmonic Society of America with his friend John Philip Sousa. With this organization he started touring Europe and North America providing orchestral accompaniment to popular singers such as Wagner, Meyerbeer, Toscanini, Gounod and Hugo Wolf among others. He also composed pieces for orchestra which were occasionally performed by his orchestra alongside popular songs from that period like "The Mikado" by Japanese composer Nobuo Uematsu or "Fra Diavolo" by Italian composer Luchino Visconti). Later on he also founded a conservatory for stringed instruments in San Francisco which taught students including Harry Partch who would later create his own form of improvised music called percussion music utilizing objects like coffee cups or chopsticks as instruments
Navy gift history stretches back to the 16th century when the English navy began using large, expensive bronze cannons. The first recorded purchase of a cannon by the navy was in 1588. The following year, King James I awarded a monopoly on gunpowder to England’s enemies in return for their help during the Spanish Armada. This event is generally considered to be the beginning of naval warfare. The English navy continued purchasing cannon until 1795 when they switched to muzzle-loading rifles and started calling them “pom-poms”. However, this name wasn’t actually given to these firearms until 1814 when Admiral Hyde Parker renamed them HMS Penguin after a white penguin that he saw while sailing on his flagship, HMS Victory. In 1815, Commodore John Hawkins discovered an artificial island off Chile known as Isla de la Cruz which served as a training ground for Chilean Navy officers. In 1818, Admiral Nelson purchased Isla de la Cruz from Chile for £1 million and used it as his headquarters at Trafalgar Square in London. As part of this deal, Nelson also received exclusive rights to sell British warships and supplies to Chilean ships operating in the Pacific Ocean. Between 1825 and 1830, Rear Admiral Sir John Franklin sailed around Antarctica searching for any signs of human activity but never found anything definitive. In 1830 he completed what is believed to be the world’s first map of Antarctica with assistance from maps compiled by Portuguese sailors who had been there before him including Columbus himself! After his expedition failed to find conclusive evidence against human presence on Antarctic land, Franklin abandoned all hope of finding people living on or near Antarctic ice shelves and returned home without ever disclosing his findings publicly! This event is often cited as being one of the greatest achievements in naval history because it finally ended doubt about human activity on Antarctica! A number of other expeditions were subsequently undertaken over the next few decades looking for signs of life but all except one resulted in failure (the USS Erebus Expedition). It was not until 1940 thatfooDiver discovered Hut Point which suggested that humans may have been living on Antarctic coasts longer than previously thought! Consequently, Naval History has now firmly established that maritime exploration and trade played an important role in early naval history!
