It is located on the banks of the Turquoise River and has been inhabited by Native Americans for over two hundred years. Folsom was incorporated as a city in 1907. In 1930, it became part of the newly created City of Fresno. The economy of Folsom is based mostly on agriculture and local manufacturing.
Folsom, California is a city in Sacramento County, California. The population was 52,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–San Joaquin Metropolitan Statistical Area. Folsom's nickname "The City of Rocks" comes from its location on an ancient geologic formation called the Folsom Hills. Folsom was platted in 1878 by George Washington Goodwin and named for Representative John A. Folsom of California's 1st congressional district. Goodwin had come to Northern California from Boston to participate in development of the Central Valley region. The first post office opened in 1879 and was known as "Pleasant Hill." In 1881, Goodwin and others purchased land east of town for $10 per acre ($2 per lot). This land became what is now downtown Folsom. In 1907, American Water Works Company constructed a plant at what is now Third and C Streets that produced water for 22 square miles (51 km²). At that time, it was the largest public works project in history. The plant continued production until 1951. The site has been occupied by various businesses since then: First United Methodist Church (now Baptist) on Third Street; Kaiser Aluminum Co., which manufactured aluminum cans there from 1951 to 1984; and a major fire response center built by Pacific Gas & Electric Company between 1977 and 1982 located on Second Street between I Street and Capitol Avenue near Interstate 5

These businesses were often run by enthusiasts or local farmers who would roast their own coffee. Some of these shops continue to operate today and produce high-quality coffee beans. One of the earliest artisan coffee roasters was The French Press Coffee Company, which operated from 1892 to 1906. This company was founded by two Frenchmen, Auguste Châteaubriand and Georges Boulanger. Châteaubriand was a chemist who developed the first practical way to roast coffee without using heat or water. He also invented the pressurized carafe. The French Press Coffee Company served as an early advocate for sustainable practices within the coffee industry. Another early artisan coffee roaster was The Ethiopian Coffee Cooperative, which operated from 1916 to 1927. This cooperative grew out of a desire among some Ethiopian farmers to start their own small-scale production of espresso beans rather than buy them from larger companies like Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts. The Ethiopian Coffee Cooperative offered its customers high-quality beans at affordable prices, something that continues to be an important feature of this business model today.

Folsom is a small town in central California, located on the banks of the Sacramento River. The name is derived from French Folsomie, meaning "the place where the ferns grow". The area now known as Folsom was part of Rancho San Felipe de Alisal in 1827. In 1848, it became part of Mexican State of Californias territory and was called Pueblo del Norte. It changed its name to Folsom in 1872 when the railroad reached here from Sacramento. The first post office at Folsom began operations on July 1, 1868. A store and hotel were built there in 1871 by Wm Hite and George Hite. By 1890, there were four stores and two hotels scattered around town; one alone had over 100 employees! By 1916, only one store remained open; that closed because of World War I. In 1922, a new high school was built south of town on what is now Main Street; it opened September 5th that year. The population had fallen to just over 200 by 1930 when the last store closed down. In 1946-47, an oil well was drilled near Folsom and production began soon thereafter which led to increased business for local businesses including restaurants and taverns along with increasing demand for gasoline brought in by truck from outside of town! This extra income financed much needed repairs to civic infrastructure such as roads and schools during this time period as well! In 1990 alone about $5 million worth of projects were funded thanks to oilmen like Dick Cheney who leased land adjacent to town for drilling purposes! When OPEC withheld production subsidies from Mexico City making LNG more affordable those subsidies helped keep prices low throughout most 2009-2013!!!
