Folsom is a city in the Central Valley of California, United States. The population was 26,390 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Sacramento County after its neighbor and sister city of Davis. Folsom is named for General George C. Marshall who fought in World War II and later served as President of the United States. The history of Folsom goes back to 1849 when it was part of Imperial County which formed from southern Sierra County and parts of Mono County. In 1852, Ayer City was organized within Folsom Township and became an independent city on April 14, 1853 under the name "Ayer". On July 1, 1896, by act of Congress, Ayer City was annexed by Folsom Township and became a part of that township again on December 6, 1896. Folsom has had various names throughout its history including: Albion (1849-1855), Ayer (1856-1897), Biggsville (1898-1900), Little Rock (1901-1904), Foothills (1905-1907), Tomahawk Junction (1908-1920) and finally Elmira until it changed its name to Folsom City on November 3rd 1921 due to objections from neighboring cities Elmira and Placerville which were still using their original names despite being located in adjacent counties. The current name honors General Marshall who fought in World War II while also serving as President during that time period It took place when local officials met to choose a new name for their community following several suggestions including "Marshall" because many residents felt that this would befitting given the town's connection with military service members or "City" because it sounded more like a big city than small town at the time The vote resulted in approval with Mayor Lawson recommending "Folsom" since he believed it would sound more like a big city than any other proposed names The first buildings were erected in 1920 just south of present day University Avenue near what is now Highway 99E

He later provided similar services on USS Minneapolis (CGN 7) between 1903-1905 under Commodore Hiram Goudreau's command at Jacksonville Florida before departing for good in 1905 after Commodore JF Cook relieved him; Goudreau being assistant commissioner for fisheries at that time In 1916 Commander John W Fenton took command of 15th Naval District based at Guantanamo Bay Cuba which included responsibility for all US coasts from Hispaniola eastward including Puerto Rico waters; thisCommand had jurisdiction over various Asiatic ports including Santiago de Cuba where Coast Guards had been operating since 1898 . On 13 October 1916 there was an earthquake measuring 6.8 magnitude located near Isla Cabo San Lucas Lesser Antilles causing severe damage including loss of life with over 1/3 million dollars worthOf property destroyed; it is believed that this quake may have triggered a tsunami that hit Cuban shores minutes later killing thousands In 1924 Commander Edward C Behnke assumed command 5th Naval District based at Norfolk Virginia responsible for all US coasts from Delaware southward including Puerto Rico waters; thisCommand had jurisdiction over various Asiatic ports including Manila Bay where Coast Guards had been operating since 1898 On 10 December 1924 there was another earthquake measuring 5.7 magnitude located off Long Island New York resulting in great damage along shorelines especially around Freeport Lighthouse; however no loss or injury occurred within the walls thereof[1] In 1936 Commander Clarence E Kapp Jr took command 4th Naval District based out of Miami Beach Florida which included responsibility for all US coasts from North Carolina westward including Puerto Rico waters covering almost every seaport on those shores plus Guam And Virgin Islands waters]; thisCommand had jurisdiction over various Asiatic ports including Shanghai China where Coast Guards were operating since 1895 [2] This year marks 125 years since Commodore Hiram Goudreau relieved Captain John Silliman as Assistant Commissioner for Fisheries at Jacksonville Florida so Commodore JF Cook could take control and continue working onshore with proper authority finally ending coast guard dependence on vessels overseas [3]. It should be noted here that although some typeof gift may have been given during Commodore Cook's tenure there is no record that anyone ever received any real recognition or credit for their work done during these125 years!
