Folsom, California is a small town in Sacramento County, California. The population was 11,826 at the 2000 census. Folsom is located on the east bank of the Sacramento River and has a border with Imperial Valley to the north. The first Europeans who set foot in what is now Folsom were Spanish explorers in 1821-22 looking for a route up the Sacramento River from San Francisco Bay.
