The National Guard was a unit of the United States Armed Forces whose purpose was to provide law enforcement, support of civil authorities, and defense of the country against potential attack. The National Guard has been in existence since 1792. The first units were called the Volunteer Infantry Regiment (later Infantry Brigade) and were raised by state legislatures as militias to keep their people safe from internal enemies. In 1802, following the Mexican-American War, President James K. Polk ordered all states to raise militias, which became known as the National Guardsman Act. By 1906, there were over 2 million guardsmen in service across the country. The act also authorized guard units to perform duties such as guarding important transportation routes and installations. From 1916 until 1946, guard units served in World War I and World War II; during this time they wore various insignia and uniforms depending on their branch of service. Since 1947, all national guard troops have worn one uniform with badges that identify their branch of service or history (e.g., cavalry for Army Rangers). The Guard is currently composed of three major branches: infantry (the Regular Army), armor (the Armor Division), and aviation (the Air Defense Division). Each branch has its own commander with reporting authority back to Headquarters National Guard Bureau in Washington D.C.. There is also an airmobile brigade that falls within artillery divisions located nationwide

Folsom, California is a city in Sacramento County, California, United States. The population was 97,383 at the 2010 census. Folsom is located on the east side of Sacramento River and is bordered by Walnut Creek to the north and east, Japaneseandro Heights to the south and west, and East Sacramento to the northwest. The first permanent European settlers in what is now Folsom were Native American traders who established trading posts along the rivers from North America in the 18th century. In 1827, James Shields founded what would become known as Shields & Company Copper Mines near present-day Folsom Street. The company mined copper until 1852 when it merged with Union Copper Mining Company to form Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1872, silver discoveries led mining companies such as Phelps Dodge and Consolidated Mines to establish claims here; however these mines did not produce any significant amounts of silver until after World War II when new methods of extracting silver began operations. In 1911, Folsom became an incorporated town when it was combined with neighboring Lakeside and Auburn Streets townships following passage of a law by state lawmakers granting incorporation status to towns without a general election under certain circumstances (i.e., municipalities that had been organized before October 1st of that year). At its incorporation date, Folsom had a population of 3iro residents; however by 1920 it had grown to over 20K residents due largely to immigration from China which then dominated regional labor markets at that time (see Chinese American History Timeline). During World War II service members barracks sprang up around town because there was no available housing nearby for them on account of the wartime shortage of apartments buildings throughout Northern California. 2n 1945 local officials sold most or all their holdings in Northern Pacific Railroad for $35 million making Folsom one of largest post-war corporate acquisitions in U.S.; this allowed park development such as Interstate 5 through town center while allowing new business opportunities within limits set by previous railroad restrictions
The National Guard has been a part of the United States since 1775. The first national guard unit was organized at West Point, New York in April of that year. In 1861, the Union army was defeated by Confederate forces at the Battle of Bull Run and this led to calls for an increased number of guardsmen in order to protect American soil. From 1861-1865, there were over 1 million men serving in the Union army and 400,000 men serving in the Confederate army. As time passed and more men enlisted into either service, there became a need for gifts for these soldiers. One such gift was a revolver called the “Yankee Doodle” gun. This weapon was originally designed as a hunting rifle but it quickly proved itself useful as something to shoot at targets during military drills or target practice. It is also believed that John Danko, an entrepreneur who owned a weapons store in Brooklyn gave this gun to General George Biddle on December 6th, 1864 as a Christmas present. This gift is significant because it shows how much importance Czar Alexander II placed on firearms and their use within Russian society at that time. Later gifts from individuals such as Samuel Morse (the founder of America’s first telecommunications company) showed how important technology could be within the military and civilian lives of Americans. Additionally, gifts like radios or cars were given out as presents during World War I in order to keep troops connected with home while they fought abroad. After World War II ended, many soldiers returned home with new technologies which they could use within their homes back at home; examples include TVs and VCRs which were popular among servicemen during this time period As technology progressed throughout history and more people came into contact with firearms through personal purchases or donations from others,National Guard Gifts began becoming more common. Folsom was founded by Mormon settlers in 1847 as part of the Salt Lake Valley Civil War Settlement. The name Folsom comes from an early settler's pronunciation of "foul-sam." The first post office in Folsom was established on November 17, 1847, and continued operation until it was discontinued on December 3, 1848. In 1850, the first store in Folsom opened and continued operating until it closed in 1865. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total population of 710 people as of 2010. The population growth rate for Folsom between 2000 and 2010 was 1%. Folsom is home to California State University at Fresno (CSUF), one of the largest universities in California with over 4300 students enrolled as of Fall 2016.
