Fontana, California is a city in Riverside County, California. The population was 82,811 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city within Riverside County and one of the most diverse cities in America. Fontana has been inhabited by humans since at least 9250 BC. The first Europeans to visit what is now Fontana were Spanish traders and missionaries who arrived in 1769 and 1770. By 1836, when Californios founded San Bernardino County, Fontana had become an important agricultural center due to its rich soil and fruit trees. The Kumeyaay people living along the creek that flows through town started growing coffee beans about 1650 AD. In 1868, a group of Italian Americans from Pueblo de Los Angeles moved to Fontana and began trading supplies with the Maya Indians on their way to Mission Santa Barbara west of downtown Los Angeles. These Europeans introduced many new plants and animals to this area which helped make wine production possible here in what is now Riverside County. In 1882 Samuel Morse established his famous telegraph line between San Diego and LOS ANGELES overpassing then-Riverside County’s only village (Fountain Valley) on the way north from Pasadena into Orange County – thus beginning communications across Southern California without going through Manila or Yuma (now Phoenix). Morse’s $1 million investment financed the construction of six miles of cable between Fountain Valley and Rancho Mirage (then Desert Hot Springs), which made it possible for farmers all over Southern California to sell goods directly to consumers in LOS ANGELES rather than waiting for shipment from Manila or Yuma

Fontana is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Kern River about 25 miles east of Bakersfield and 25 miles south of Stockton. The history of Fontana can be traced back to 1871 when George P. Smith and his brother-in-law James Hutton founded the community of Fontana on the banks of the Kern River. The first post office was established in 1872, and the first store opened in 1873. In 1903, John Sutter settled in Fontana and began operating a sawmill that produced lumber for buildings in Bakersfield and other cities. In 1907, Jens Olsen purchased the mill from John Sutter and continued to operate it until 2000. In 1916, Henry Ford started production at his nearby San Fermin factory with a single engine tractor which he called "The White Lady." This innovative design made him one of the first people to use an engine instead of horsepower to power a vehicle. Soon after, Ford introduced pickups into mainstream America with this truck model which became known as The Ford Tractor Truck. The townspeople responded well to this new development and built a new high school (now part of Sam Boyd High School) and two churches (one now defunct) around The Ford Factory site. In 1978, Fontana merged with neighboring Stockton to form what is now known as The City of Fontana combined statistical area . At that time there were only 3 homes total in all three towns combined! Since then many improvements have been made to downtown including new restaurants/bars/cafes/stores etc., but most importantly; more housing has been built within walking distance of both old downtown businesses as well as newer developments being constructed right outside Of Town Center! Allowing citizens easy access to services while living close by also makes it easier for employers who need employees or customers within minutes’ walk!
