Fontana, California is a city located in the San Bernardino Valley of Inyo County, California. The population was estimated to be over 100,000 as of July 1, 2017. It is the most populous city within the Inyo National Forest and park service district. Fontana is also part of the Victorville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1907 by two brothers named James and John Fontana. At its peak it had a population of over 50,000 people and was home to some of the first shopping malls in Southern California. The biggest physical change that took place in Fontana during this time was the construction of Interstate 10 which crossed through town shortly after it was founded. This brought with it many new residents who were drawn to freeway access and easy travel away from their rural lifestyle. Since then, Fontana has seen a number of growth trends: A recent development has been the addition of several colleges and universities to its mix; thanks to planned out agriculturalland around town, there are now numerous farmland jobs available; while still maintaining much of its small town feel - even though it’s only about an hour by car from downtown Los Angeles - there are now more than 12 restaurants and bars per 1,000 residents (up from 7 per 1,000 when I last wrote this). Additionally, there has been an increase in nightlife options with nightclubs like LAS VEGAS PACKAGE NIGHTclub making their way into town; movie theaters including Regal Cinemas Monterey Park AMC and Village Gate Cinema locating nearby; as well as live music venues like The Observatory at University Park which opened up adjacent to a sprint course used for running/jogging on Campus Day (I cannot attest that this actually benefits either place)
