The original Fontana Navy Store was opened in 1929 by Captain Edward S. Hill, a naval officer and merchant sailor who had been discharged from the navy after World War I. The store specialized in selling naval supplies and equipment, including torpedoes, submarines, and shipbuilding materials. Over time, the store became more popular for its clothing selection than its military supplies. In 1951, Captain Hill's son-in-law Harry Eisner merged the Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) Fontana into the store's inventory as part of a larger reorganization of NAWS' sales staff. Eisner continued to run the store until his death in 1984. In 1984, Commander John Fenton took over as CEO of NAWS and appointed him head of Fontana's Navy Store division. In 1990, Commander Fenton retired and was replaced by Vice Admiral David J. Donaldson who served until 2001 when he became Director of Marketing at NAWS headquarters in Washington D.C.. In 2001, Captain Don Waddell assumed leadership of NAWS' Navy Store division which is responsible for managing all aspects ofFontana's NavyStore online presence including website design and hosting services; ecommerce platform development; marketing research; social media management; active participation in trade shows throughout California Captain Waddell also leads strategy development for several new initiatives such as Fleet Week events or "Navy Day" where shop users can enjoy discounted rates on select items during an event that celebrates DOD vessels visiting town
Fontana is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census and 514 at the 2013 estimate. It is located in the eastern San Bernardino Mountains adjacent to Palm Springs and northeast of Los Angeles. Fontana is about 15 miles east of downtown Los Angeles on State Route 153. The first Europeans to visit what is now Fontana were members of the Spanish expedition led by Gaspar de Portolà, who explored present-day Riverside County in 1769–70. After landing on July 24, 1769, on an isolated sandbar near Rancho San Bernardino de los Arroyos (now part of Fontana), Portolà's group discovered lying before them an area including today's towns of Fontana and Gorman: "This place we found very new and strange; there was no water hereabouts, only dirt." The explorers named this area San Bernardino del Valle because it appeared to be inhabited by three types of wild animals: bears, lions and mountain lions. In 1802, Robert Hinkle erected a small adobe house just north of what would become today's corner store at Second Street and G Street in present-day Fontana. This may have been the first business ever established within what are now Downtown Los Angeles or Riverside County. A year later, during countywide land sales that followed Mexico’s War for Independence from Spain, Hinkle sold parts of his holdings which included much valuable land southward from Joshua Tree National Park across Grapevine Creek into sections now belonging to Jurupa Valley In 1820 Fenton moved from Stockton to start a mercantile business with some 300 acres (120 ha) west of Gorman called The Storefront Hotel & Casino where he met local banker James Wertheimer whose family also operated Wertheimer Bros., hardware stores in bothOntario (now Upland) and Orange counties . In 1825 Fenton organized a farmers' market known as Market Square which eventually morphed into First Mercantile Bank when its main rival First National Bank closed its doors in 1873 .) A post office was established at Fontana on November 12th 1865 under the name Newtonville (). That same year Jno Toomer began marketing oranges through his truck route along State Route 153 between Ontario (now Upland) and Orange Counties . In 1888 Elisha Kapp founded Empire Dairy Supply Co., one of two grocery stores open until Prohibition forced their closure ca 1925 On October 14th 1912 citizens voted 3-to-1 against annexation into City Of Glendale but did not stop annexation proceedings after passage by Proposition 2 four years later On January 1st 1922 voters approved annexing portions of neighboring West Covina unwisely taking too much land without giving any consideration to economic development opportunities available withinfontanashore Neighborhoods

In commemoration of this history, here are five key aspects of naval gift history: 1) The Naval Service Gift Regulations were first created in 1894 in order to regulate gifts given by members of the naval service to one another. This was an important step in developing a social contract between sailors and their commanders. 2) The first warship that was commissioned by the United States Navy was USS Constitution (1797). This event is widely considered to bethe birth of naval warfare. It also marks the beginning of American dominance in world seas. 3) In 1907, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 12474 which established guidelines for military gifting within America’s armed forces. These orders were designed to improve morale among service members and prevent Gifts from being used as political leverage by superiors. 4) In 1942, during World War II, Admiral Chester Nimitz instructed his officers not to give any items other than food or water away during combat briefings (known as “Navy Gifting Protocol”). This directive helped maintain Norman Schwarzkopf’s reputation as a consummate military leader while he lead Allied forces into battle against Nazi Germany

Fontana was founded on July 14, 1887 by George A. Fontana and his brother-in-law H.C. Goodwin as an agricultural settlement east of what is now Bakersfield. The name "Fontana" comes from the first settler to arrive, John Fenton Fontana. The City developed around two roads that led away from agriculture: Sutter Road running northwest and Gosnell Boulevard running southeast to connect with other towns and cities in Kern County around this time frame In 1912, Cement Company owner James Waugh laid out a new town named after him called Waughville which grew rapidly due to its good water quality for both farming and manufacturing needs until it became too crowded and Waugh moved his factory west into nearby Mecca in 1925 when that community went through hard times financially due to the Depression era oil crash In 1959 Fontana voters approved Measure I (the "Fountain Valley Improvement Act") which would provide funding for major street projects such as a bypass around downtown that would connect local streets with Interstate 10 approximately one mile south The bypass project was completed in 1961 and still uses part of Sutter Road today as its routing
Fountain Valley was founded by the sisters of Mission San Gabriel in 1847. The original mission is now a heritage park.
