There’s no doubt that coffee has been a part of human history for as long as people have been able to produce it. The oldest evidence of coffee consumption comes from the 6,000-year-old Sumerians, who drank roasted beans. In ancient Greece and Rome, coffee was used as a stimulant and was even included in the diet of some rulers. Coffee first reached California in 1811 when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo and his party sailed into what is now California on their ship, Almirante Fortunato. They brought with them some of the world’s first espresso beans which they planted in Point Mugu near San Francisco. Coffee began to be traded between England and America soon after arrival, and by 1830 it had become an important commodity in both countries. The early days of coffee production were difficult due to the fact that there were only very small areas where coffee could be grown. It wasn’t until about 1850 that regular plantations started being established all over California. At this point, the processing techniques used for making espresso became more common and efficient which allowed for more consistent quality cups of coffee throughout the state. Fontana Coffee, founded in 1912 by Dutch immigrants, has been a mainstay of the coffee scene in Fontana since the early 1800s. In 1916, they opened their first roastery and continue to produce quality coffee today.
Fontana is a small, unincorporated community located in San Bernardino County, California. At the 2010 census, its population was 551. The ZIP code for Fontana is 92634. The community began as Foothill Ranch on October 20, 1887 when Spanish missionaries founded a mission here. It was named after Gaspare Fontana, one of the original owners and directors of the San Bernardino Valley Railroad company. Other early settlers were J.P. Hickey and his family from Illinois who arrived in 1892 and erected a log cabin near present-day South Park Drive; Elisha Beasley built a store on the same site in 1896; James Wertheimer opened an insurance agency here in 1902; Ayer & Whitney Hardware Store soon followed before becoming Wells Fargo Bank in 1907. In 1916, during World War I, General John Pershing visited Fontana to inspect military training facilities being developed at nearby Riverside National Cemetery (now Riverside International Airport). Upon his return he ordered that all civilian housing be destroyed within 24 hours so that soldiers could be moved to more conveniently situated areas for their combat duties. Fallout from this order led to some residents moving out of their homes while others constructed new dwellings around or near the army barracks – many still remain today including several homes on North Park Drive overlooking Interstate 10 just east offontana town center. A post office was established at Fontana by Leland Stanford Junior on July 1, 1922 and remained open until it was discontinued on January 6, 1988 due to lack of mail volume with neighboring towns such as Ontario also having post offices serving similar purposes at that time (Ontario had been part of San Bernardino County since 1912). The last letter sent from Fontana was received by Ontario on July 25th 1972 along with all other San Bernardino County post offices prior to county consolidation which took effect January 1st 1973. Bennett's grocery store burned down in 1957 and remains one of the most popular tourist attractions nearby which has been visited by over 120 million people according to local legend In 1978 two men attempted suicide here by throwing themselves off a roof but survived In 1984 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced plans to build a plant called "Chrysler Assembly Plant" adjacent to then-owned Ralston Purina pet food factory eleven miles north west of Fontana – this project never came about because American Motors Corporation bought the land next door for use as part of their Menlo Park Research Center . In 2001 both prices for gasoline increased 50% due largely to oil prices reaching crisis levels following September 11th . As oil production declined throughout 2007–2009 much manufacturing activity shifted away from rural California into Mexico City creating high demand for resources there while jobs dried up outside major cities such as Los Angeles and Phoenix . Fontana is a small city located in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 54,871 at the 2010 census. Fontana was founded in 1892 by W. H. Fontana and named for his father, Lorenzo Fontana. It became an incorporated town on December 12, 1907. The city's economy is based on agriculture and services such as police and fire protection. The first residents of Fontana were Italian immigrants who came to the area during the late 1800s looking for a better life than they had in their homeland. They started out farming land but soon realized that this wasn't enough to provide them with a comfortable living and so they began to look for ways to improve their lives. One of the first things these immigrants did was find some business opportunity that would help them make money and so they started trading goods and services with other farmers in order to get ahead financially. In time, these businesses grew into what we now know as local businesses - mostly grocery stores, breweries, butcher shops and other types of commercial enterprises - which made up much of the early economy of Fontana. However, there were also some major investments made by early settlers in terms of infrastructure development: A new courthouse was built in 1915 , an irrigation system was installed in 1935 (and still functiones today) and a water tower/ pumping station was erected in 1937-38 near what is now downtown Fontana (just east of Interstate 5). These developments helped make Fontana one of the most prosperous cities within commuting distance back then – it boasted high schools (one being West Side High School), churches (St John Bosco Catholic Church being particularly influential), banks (The First National Bank serving as both a lending institution and civic center) as well as several hospitals including Monterey General Hospital which opened its doors on May 14th 1922! Additionally, many factories were established throughout the 1920s & 1930s such as those run by Cowlitz Glass Works or Jardine Rubber Company before eventually moving away from town due to competition from nearby cities such as Los Angeles or Fresno etc.. In 1948 when San Bernardino County merged with Riverside County MUNI service became available within minutes of hitting any corner store making shopping & dining quick & easy no matter where you lived (& even getting your prescriptions filled!) This gave rise to what is known today as "the era of electric vehicles" with people generally opting for gasoline cars over electric ones because it didn't seemed like it would always be possible or convenient to have centralized electricity sources close at hand! However, given how quickly things changed once MUNI got involved there's no doubt that without her our current streetlights wouldn't be possible 🙂
