Foster City is a city located in San Francisco, California. The population was 64,827 at the 2010 census. It is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in North America and has a very mixed-use skyline with high-rise buildings as well as low-rise buildings. Foster City was founded on May 27, 1868 by Colonel George Foster and his wife Charity. The first post office in this city was established on July 16, 1868. In 1870, the city name was changed to San Francisco because then Mayor Teller wanted to honor General John Atherton who had died during the American Civil War. Foster City became an incorporated city on February 17th of that year. The first mayor of Foster City was Captain Charles Winton who served from 1886 until 1888. From 1895 until 1899 it was administered by three trustees who were also mayor for a short time each year due to term limitation issues; however full mayoral powers reverted back to the mayor after these trustees resigned or were impeached for corruption or other reasons within six months of leaving office (i.e., no term limits). This system continued until 1915 when Mayor Winton replaced it with an elected council which remained in place until 1926 when it was eliminated entirely due to term limit issues once again becoming an unelected body subject only to mayoral vetoes without any democratic accountability or influence over policymaking processes). From 1928 through 1940 there were five mayorships during which Foster City underwent various changes including moving from unelected council members back into elected status (with mayoral vetoes), expanding boundaries up north into Emeryville beyond Candlestick Park Boulevard through I-880 freeway expansion project completed just prior thereto becoming part of San Francisco), annexing adjacent neighborhoods such as Excelsior Heights and Potrero Hill along Mission Street between 24th Avenue & Market Streets during 1933–1934 pursuant To Proposition M named after Supervisor Donohue; constructing additional municipal services such as firefighters hall&station(renamed SFD Headquarters Tower in 1961), jail(opened in 1934), water main extension northwest along Potter Lea Avenue from Harrison Street near 19th Avenue southeast past 30th Avenue before joining Marina Boulevard southwest past Treasure Island]], enacting laws regulating liquor sales,[including passage of Prohibition Act 1913], creating park[ed areas now sprinkled throughout DowntownSanFrancisco], erecting large civic centers like Aquatic Park[rdiserver close [in 1951]), beginning redevelopment efforts around Hunters Point Naval Shipyard circa 1960′s]; finally terminating redevelopment efforts around 1990’s.] Today's Foster City is nestled among hills overlooking Golden Gate Park at 25 acres bounded eastward by Geary Boulevard and westward by Interstate 80A arterial roadway bisected northwardsly by Yerba Buena Island extending inland towards Daly City beach parallel To Playfield Drive thence northeasterly along Airport Way across Hayward Hills ending abruptly at US 101N exit 5 off ramp leading Interstate 80A about 6 blocks southwest of Civic Center Plaza

Foster City is a city in San Francisco County, California. It was named after John Foster Dulles, the 35th Secretary of State of the United States. The population was 17,813 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit Foster City were three Spanish missionaries who came in 1817 and built a small cabin on what is now Post Street. A year later, they founded Mission San Francisco de Asís on Nob Hill and named their settlement for President George Washington. In 1827, the mission moved to its current location on First Street between Kearny and Mission Streets. By 1840, there were over 50 small businesses in downtown Foster City employing over 100 people. The town rapidly grew due to its water rights from Rancho Rinconadaán Park which spanned most of the east side of town (now part of Castro Valley). In 1851-52 James Wickersham Bennet developed a large tract of land north of downtown FosterCity and began selling it parcels to settlers. By 1860-61, about 60% of the citizens living in Foster City were born within 10 miles (16 km) of their homes; this had dropped to 25% by 1915 when aviation gave rise to new transportation needs across much larger areas1. During World War I, Foster City became a military training center for American troops serving in Europe2. After hostilities ended in 1918, many veterans returned home and little changed until World War II arrived3: Foster City became one of America's largest munitions production sites4 contributing $10 million worth of munitions during that conflict5 as well as creating 400 jobs6!
