Fountain Valley is a small town located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. The population was 7,500 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Modesto, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Fountain Valley were the Ohlone Native Americans who occupied land that now includes most of what is today Fountain Valley. They hunted and gathered food from local plants and animals. In 1850, John C. Fremont explored this area while on his trip up the valley and named it after himself - Fountain Hill (now east of Nevada Avenue). In 1872, brothers George and William Waddell founded what would become Waddell Oil Company on land that they had just purchased from David Starr Jordan for $10 per acre (the price at which he had sold off his other oil properties). The company built a pipeline from Wellsville to Fresno and began producing oil there in 1875. In 1905, many residents of nearby Stockton moved to Fountain Valley because of its good water resources. By 1910, about 60% of the people in town were born here or within 10 miles of it. Many businesses originally opened here such as Jardine Rubber Company (now known as Jardine-Mathews), tires company Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., grocery store grocer Kroger, post office (founded by Will Rogers), and several schools including Fountain High School which still operates today as one of four high school districts in Contra Costa County (the others are Elk Grove Unified School District, Pleasanton Unified School District, and Berkeley Hills Unified School District). During World War II much housing was built for military personnel along College Avenue near present day Foothill Boulevard - residential housing continued until around 1970 when it was replaced by commercial buildings typical of postwar Kern County communities like Bakersfield or Stockton etc.. After 1945 much surrounding agricultural land became developed into urban areas with new shopping malls and light industrial parks such as Eastridge Mall being constructed in eastern Fountain Valley between 1950-1980s while much rural agricultural land remained undeveloped until more recently with a few exceptions like an open field known locally as "The Grapes" used for farming purposes only since World War II

The valley was named for the Isabella Falls on the San Joaquin River, which are now visible from Interstate 5. The town was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1879, and it became an agricultural center after they arrived in California. In 1912, Fountain Valley became part of Riverside County and has remained a rural community ever since. Today, it is a primarily residential area with a few businesses scattered throughout the valley.
Fountain Valley is a small city in the San Gabriel Valley in southern Los Angeles County, California. It is located on the eastern edge of the city of Los Angeles and is bordered by Industry to the south, Carson City to the west, Montero Heights to the north and east, and Glendale to the northeast. The name "Fountain Valley" was given to it by Colonel H.J. Fountain in 1884. It was founded as a small farming community near what is now Fountain Hills Cemetery. In 1909, it became an independent city with its own government and police force. In 1930 it annexed part of neighboring Carson City. From 1942 until 1994 it was one of several U.S.-controlled areas in World War II provide housing for Japanese American citizens during that time period under Camp De Vallejo (now known as West Covina). In 2002, Fountain Valley became one of six cities along with Inglewood, Hawthorne, Lynbrooks and Woodland Hills to be merged into Pasadena; this merger created a new metropolitan area which included most of Southern California's population centers including Los Angeles County proper as well as Orange County and Riverside County
