The United States Air Force was established in 1947, and it has been one of the most powerful military forces in the world for over 50 years. The Fremont Air Force Base Gift History began in 1961 when the United States Air Force first opened its doors at Fremont. The base was originally called Ellington Field and housed a single squadron of bombers, the 191st Bomb Squadron. The squadron's commander, Lt. Col. James Kieft, decided to name the new base after General Dwight D. Eisenhower, who had been appointed Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in Europe during World War II and then led America's postwar military effort. Eisenhower's visit to Fremont in early 1961 set off a chain reaction that resulted in the establishment of other USAF bases throughout California that would serve as home for bomber squadrons and their supporting airfields until 1990. In 1962, General Curtis LeMay assigned command responsibility for all American strategic nuclear forces (strategic bombers) inside North America to Gen., Maxwell Taylor Jr.. At Ellington Field, Lt. Col. Kieft hosted numerous foreign dignitaries and generals who toured thebase while they awaited orders to bomb Japan during the Cold War era known as "the Era of More Than Two Worlds." In 1970-1971, Major General Charles Babbage assumed command oflieutenant colonel Gary Wittenberg's 191st Bomb Squadron which moved from Ellington Field to John Glenn AFB on Long Island New York following a severe engine failure caused by an oil fire within the unit's hangar #2 on July 20th 1969; this event is also credited with initiating daily inspections of fighter aircraft Hangars 1-4 at John Glenn AFB designed to detect any unauthorized flights attendant thereto outside normal operating procedures! In 1978-1979 Major General Rick Atkinson took command following Maj.-Gen Stanley Hauerbach’s retirement from active duty; Atkinson directed major general quarters (Maj.-Gen.) at Fudds AFB Calif.; commanded 3d Wing/Red Flag Detachment 11 at Davis-Monthan AFB Ariz.; concurrently served as Deputy Commander 10th Air Force (Air Defense Command) – Yokota AB Japan from Sept 1981 thru Jan 1982; constituted 5th Wing/Checkpoint Charlie detachment activated Mar 8th 1980 at Vandenberg AFB Calif., responsible for providing security around Los Angeles International Airport; concurrently served as Commander 4 Fighter Wing/Langley AFB Va., flying F-15C Eagle fighters against drug smugglers & terrorists over desert Southwest Asia!! The gift history continued with Brigadier General Donald Acheson taking Command on 1 Sep 1983 upon BrigadierGeneral Brent Scowcroft's retirement from service effective Oct 23rd 1982 succeeding Maj.-Gen Ernest Jorgensen...On 14 Dec 1983 Captains Don Beyer and William Lowy were commissioned with the rank of Commodore after completing officer training & serving tours aboard USS Enterprise CVN 80...On 2 Feb 1984 Captain James Foley was commissioned with Naval Aviator wings being established ashore via Executive Order…Captain Foley became operational controller for Naval Aviator Programs thru Commodore status effective Feb 15 th 1984…. Finally On 9 Apr 1984 Rear Admiral Harry Sanger became Commanding Officer 4 Fighter Wing/Langley AFB Va when Vice Admiral Robert Ballard relieved Rear Admiral Sanger following his promotion to Admiral!!!
Fremont is an unincorporated community in Contra Costa County, California. It is located east of Walnut Creek, at the intersection of State Route 37 and Fremont Boulevard. The ZIP code for Fremont is 94538. Fremont was founded by the Russian-born Ira Goldsmith in 1852 as a small post on the west side of what is now downtown Fremont. Goldsmith named his settlement after his mentor and friend, George Washington Carver, who had settled nearby in 1847.
Fremont has been inhabited by various cultures since its founding, including Ohlone people from north of the Bolsa Pass in central California; Alaskan Native Americans from the nearby Klondike gold Rush region; Chinese traders during and after the Opium Wars;los Angelesmissionaries in 1848; and American soldiers during World War II. The first European to visit what is now Fremont was Spanish Priest Francisco de Ulloa on October 15, 1769 while exploring northern San Joaquin Valley for Father Junipero Serra.
In 1851, Ira Goldsmith moved to Fremont from Stockton with his wife Fanny Dodge (née Dunham). He began posting notices of free land opportunities along the creek that he Call North State Street today. Goldsmith offered four acres (18 hectares) each to anyone who could build a house on it within five years. By 1863, there were over 100 buildings erected around North State Street alone (now University Avenue), with homes facing uphill because no street level connection existed between them then or still does today. In 1865 when gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill nearpresent day Antioch, Goldsmith set up a store to sell goods brought back by prospectors and sold equipment needed for mining such as picks and shovels used in extracting coal from underground mines – this was called "Gold Smith & Company". After discovery of large amounts of silver at Fillmore River in 1868–70 following an assessment made by Colonel J H Stevens – founder of Fillmore City -Goldsmith established several more stores before finally shutting down operations due to financial difficulties in 1870. In 1880 he reopened under new management but closed again due to bad loans done during Prohibition era. His son Ira Jr., opened another store until 1893 when he went into receivershipIRA JR GOLDSMITH 3rd which led to him opening up a general Merchandise Store next door where he operated until 1907.

In 1947, Congress passed the National Security Act which gave rise to the CIA, and also provided for separate USAF intelligence activities within America’s NATO allies. This meant that RAF airplane manufacturer Bendix had to create a model AIS-3M Argus radar detector for USAF use in addition to its existing civilian products line; this became known as “the Pentagon Radar Plotter” program which led to increased American involvement in international conflicts during these years (e.g., Vietnam). In 1962, President John F Kennedy signed Executive Order 11441 which established NASA; this order included providing financial assistance for refurbishing Elmer Ross designed Boeing 747 jetliners with advanced scientific research capabilities (the first Boeing 747 flew on July 17th 1969). Fremont, California is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 70,151 at the 2010 census. Fremont is located on the San Francisco Peninsula and has been a center of innovation for over 100 years. The City of Fremont was founded in 1892 by William C. Sprague and James Worthy as an agricultural town near what is now Hayward. You can find evidence of human activity dating back to 10,000 BC in Fremont when two small villages were built around an acorn lot. In 1851, gold was discovered in Northern California and soon after people started traveling to the area looking for gold. In 1855, John Sutter established the first permanent settlement in present-day Fremont when he mined silver here. By 1870, most of the farms had been abandoned because of competition from mines and railroad construction across the state line. However, one man who did not give up hope was entrepreneur General George Evans who purchased some land west of Hayward and began developing it into a town called Evansville where he named his new community after himself – Fremont. The first store opened its doors on December 12th, 1892 within days of incorporation by local citizens under Joseph Ayer as The First National Bank of Fremont (later to become known as Pacific Western Bank). The following year saw rapid growth with over 50 businesses opening up shop including several restaurants and a cotton candy stand that quickly became famous throughout Peninsula County. By 1896 there were also three hotels with 190 beds each – making it one of the largest cities on the Peninsula at that time! During World War II many businesses closed due to military production shortages but during peacetime much business returned with contributions from locally generated funds (the local paper mill being one example).
